No power in 1-2 gear

It seems like no matter what I do, I can't pull in 1st gear, and only a little better in 2nd. In 3rd gear I always pull hard.
Whats up? I'm thinking my transmission is giving up, but that's the only thing I can figure out.

[edit] forgot the sig doesn't specify anymore:
GM Goodwrench 350, Performer RPM intake, Holley 600 cfm carb [yes vacuum advance distributor] , and Edelbrock headers. non-World Class T5 also. I've recently been toying with secondary springs recently since I got a quick change kit for the carb.

You mean it dies at the top of gears 1 & 2 or do you mean it makes no power at any time in the lower gears? That would be really weird.

No it doesn't die, it just feels like no torque is being transferred at low speeds, if that makes any sense.

Does the engine rev way up while this is happening? If so, you might have a slipping clutch. Wouldn't surprise me since you have a LOT more torque than that T5 clutch was originally designed to handle. Either that or your tires are silently burning to the cords in the lower gears!

The reason this is so mysterious is that the engine has no way of knowing what gear it's in. It just makes power dependant on how much throttle you give it. For it to pull good in 3rd gear but not 1 & 2 would be extremely weird.
