How can I add power to my 89 RS 305 TBI?

Hey guys I was wondering if you all could help me add power to my 89 RS. A guy at my school has a 93 240z and he beat my *** at the stop light races last week. I need to get some more horsepower. Do you thikn that I could add a set of headers and maybe a 14 x 3 open element air cleaner to make my car go faster? All of his chinko friends have been making fun of me at school and I cant take it anymore. I have to go faster.

Help me.

Theres a few problems with that. The flexplate/flywheel wont bolt up to the old crank. Double hump heads suck...TPI heads will outflow them and they have hardened valve seats.

Oh and there is a TBI board...where this should be.

actually I have a 91 TBI that I am converting to carb. 625 Carter W/ Edelbrook Torquer II. Spending about 500 for carb, intake and distrib. and picking up some extra ponies. And yes I live in an area far from the arms of the EPA ****'S.

Hey Camaro Hunter, that sounds alot like the setup that I replaced my TBI system with. It was a Holley 650cfm Double Pumper rather than a Carter, though.

I was thinking 650, but I just thought it would be too much. Afterall I am just doign the swap so I can get it running and take my V6 of the road and do some major work to it. After that I will do a serious build up of the 305er... maybe even yank the thing all togeather and replace with 427!...

Carters are great for the street and very user friendly.

well it came down to the Carter or a Demon. I do not feel like spending 350 on a carb so I went Carter for those very reasons. Hollys are like Harley's. Finikiy and hell to keep in top shape.
