bogging all the time

i have an 85 iroc-z 305 L69(G) engine mated to a factory 5 spd. while trying to figure out a shut down problem in the dist and removing it,i decided to upgrade a little on the intake side. i installed 2101 edelbrock performer intake and 1407 edelbrock 750 carb. in addition i installed a set of edelbrock tubular headers mated to a gutted gm cat to a 3" thrush catback. in addition installed bosch+4 plugs and msd module and msd 8.8 high temp wires and an accel cap/rotor and accel coil. i set timing at 6 deg below TDC(which i played with to get the best idle) and set the carb at the max i could get approx 17-18 inches inches of vacuum. the car starts fine but seems to run extremely rich(same problem i had with qjet)
now the car bogs severly and when i decelerate pops thru exhaust. i have checked and double checked everything and still problem continues.(just for the record computer was removed also) any ideas would greatly be appreciated as im at wits end here and will not drive the car until i can get it corrected.(miss it alot too) not that it makes a diff but in order to solve a clearance problem with the oem air cleaner i manufactured a stub stack to raise the air cleaner(dual snokel)and installed an k and n air filter. thanx in advance on any respones

Did you put back in the same distributor?

you didn't mention putting in a vacuum advance, and if you didn't you need too.

mdago, are you sure your not just running super rich ? That 1407 was factory jetted for a big block, so you might just need to jet it down a bit.

I dropped a 1407 on my 355, and I ended up jetting it down big time, before the smell of fuel went away.
My last change was .101 Pri. Jet & .092 Sec. with 68x47 Rods. Now mind you I'm at 6300 Ft above sea level, and I'm not threw dialing it in yet.

Good Luck,

Ron C. Terry
