Sticking accelerator pump

I've noticed that sometimes the shaft portion of the accelerator pump 'sticks' after being pushed down- that is, it doesn't follow the pump lever back up when the pedal is released. This seems to happen only when the engine is cold-once it's warmed up it stops. I don't think the pump itself is sticking (it's a new assembly btw- I replaced it a few months ago), but the shaft is sticking on the o-ring that's in the body of the carb. I tried lubricating the pump shaft with graphite and while it would work for a day or so it'll go back to sticking again. Could I use light machine oil at this point without having to worry about any build up of dirt, which would just add to my problems?

Thanks!

Mine is doing the same. Let off the pedal and the pump remains stationary and after a second or two it slowly rises to the lever. I checked my father's Chevy PU non CCC Q jet and it immediately follows the lever back to the top.

Anyone?

I don't even use the o-ring. Have run my QJets for years and years without them. Never a problem. If you're going Baja/off-road racing then probably not a good idea but for a street car, you'll never miss it.

True, and in hindsight I would've/should've left them off when I had the carb apart. However I'd rather not have to open up the carb again just to take the o-rings out...
