Holley Double Pumper Need Help

I am a complete moron when it comes to carbs, so I'll need some pointers here. I picked up a new (unused-never used, but store for a few years) 650 holley double pumper for $100.00. I figured for that much I can't go wrong.

Here's my set up, or will be my set up in one week.
84 Z28
305 L69, manual tranny
Weiand dual plane aluminum intake
1" aluminum spacer
shorty headers
Competition Cam #12-238-2
462 int. 469 exhaust
106*
Vac advance distributor with Crane Vacuum Advance Curve Kit
14" Mr. Gasket airfilter

Now I read that this carb would be a good match for my engine, but need to know where I should start. I figure that it may need some new gaskets and such, and I will add the electric choke to it.

What should I buy for this carb?

Thanks,

Get a Holley Rebuild or Trick kit, and a few cans of carb cleaner. I bet you can guess what comes next

Out of curiosity, what's the list number of the carb. It should be printed on the front of the choke tower.

well you should really hope it has blow out protection. if not you'll blow power vales left and right. unless your car is tuned very well. keep it tuned and no problem. the holley 4150 carb is one of the best performance carbs on the market today and to get one for that price new... well, you basically stole it! yeah i like that! anyhow get the "trick kit" for the 4150 and make sure to tell them what the carb,s # and you'll be very happy! and if someone tells you to rid yourself of the carb,. tell them to blow you! i had very bad experinces with holleys and q-junk's but the holley is still a great carb no matter what! "holley the king of speed!" just keep it clean and you'l love the performance!

Here are the numbers, what do they mean?

R84016 1160

I purchased this over an internet auction. Is this what it claimed to be?

A Holley page on 4150s in general...

http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/TechSer...o/4150-60.html

The list of specs, including rebuild kits and such, for all their carbs...

http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/CarbList.pdf

It's a man sec double-pumper 650; most of the part #s in that series are specific to applications, but I don't know about that particular one.

0-84016 carb isn't classified as a 4150. The Holley book lists it as a model 4011

650 cfm
Rebuid kit 37-1448
Trick kit 37-930
Primary jet 64
Secondary jet 64
Power valve 6.5
Primary squirter nozzle .026
Secondary squirter nozzle .026

Since you say it's new, none of these sizes should have been changed. You can check the carb to see if any of these parts have been changed to other sizes. No listing that this carb ever came on a production vehicle so it looks like a store bought carb. Although it's not a 4150, it should be a good performer as a small DP. A couple of those mounted on a big block with a tunnel ram would be a nice setup. If it's classified as "new" and not worn out then it should be a good deal. Pick it up and use it.

Stephen you're right, it's a 4011... I've never even worked on one of those at all, it's totally unlike a 4150

Thanks for all of the help and the parts numbers.

Now what exactly will a trick kit help me do?

I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't a 4150, but the 4011 does have some nice features, so I'll give it a try.

Thanks again.

The trick kit is just a rebuild kit that comes with a few more parts and better gaskets. Worth the few extra bux IMHO.

OK, I'm looking for the part numbers 37-1448 Rebuild kit, and 37-930 trick kit and cannot find them anywhere. I found a trick kit and rebuild kit on Jegs, but not the same numbers...what gives? Do I need these exact part numbers. I want to do it right the first time you know...

Thanks again.

Ive had 4010's and 4011's ,they offer great throttle response because of the annular discharge. I also like the idea of only having one gasket. Be careful not to overtighten the screws that hold te top on ,they are small fine threaded and strip without much pressure ,holley even sold a helicoil kit specifically for those carbs when they first came out.

Do not buy a trick kit for this carb! it only has on gasket and it wont come with the kit. Change the pump diaphrams and check the needly and seats to make sure that they move freely. The floats are specific to that carb although you can get other brass floats for a center hung carb to work by bending them.
