Continued high revs problem

Further to https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000306.html where I reported and got some useful pointers about the high revs problem on my 5.0L V8 1984 T/A, I'm afraid it still isn't sorted.

Although I've replaced the choke thermostat and choke heater relay, the choke plate lever seems to get stuck so the car revs @3000rpm once the engine has warmed up. I can push the lever easily with my finger to fully open the plate and it goes straight to around 900rpm, but once you kick the gas, it goes right up there again. I can tie the lever so that it's always open (effectively disabling the choke). This obviously makes the car hard to start in the cold but once it's warm, everything is fine and the revs are normal. This is not a very good long-term solution though.

Grateful for any ideas.

Many thanks again.
