Edelbrock Carter AFB questions
Edelbrock Carter AFB questions
I have a L69 motor with an Edelbrock RPM manifold, POSSIBLY an edelbrock cam (it lopes), an Edelbrock Carter AFB carb, Edelbrock headers, and an Accell coil.
I've been tuning it for a while, when I bought the car it was RICH, I got it too lean, now I have it almost right, but still a bit too rich.
I have the accelerator pump in the top most hole (of the three).
I am using .098" jets in the primaries, .101"
jets in the secondaries, and .068 x .042 metering rods.
I am using the silver 8 in Hg. springs.
I had a bog problem which is seemingly fixed now, it now runs strong through the rpm band but pops when you left off the gas (rich).
My plan for tonight is to back off the rods down to a .068 x .052. Maybe I should lean the secondaries down a bit? I have a spare .100" but that's not a huge difference from the .101".

Bleak,
first thing I notice is that your jets are wrong. The primaries should be bigger than the secondaries.
as far as the pop, look for exhaust leaks and run a weaker spring under the primaries.
The pop may also be an issue with your vacuum advance but I don't know how you have yours set up.

that's what I've heard but I was going extremely lean on the top end. (to the point of detonation).
What do you think about .068 x .052 rods (down 1 step), changing the secondaries to .092" (down 2), and orange springs (5 in. hg.) ?
