I went to a performance shop to see what I should do,and they recommended getting a regulator with a return line port. I have a 4 port adjustable Mallory that is really nice. The part number is 4309.

A two-port only blocks the outlet pressure from going higher than the set pressure. That's intended for a pump with internal bypass/relief, like a mechanical pump.
In-tank electric pumps don't like being blocked off with no flow since they don't have any internal relief or bypass. So, get a 3-port with return line.

If you don't get a return style reg, you will burn your pump up.

The part number on the box I have is 4309. It has a return port at the bottom and four in/out ports around it with the pressure adjustment on top along with a vacuum port.If I remember right,it cost me about $108.Originally posted by 2ponchos

Is this the one you have? I noticed in your sig you have a three port.Mine is a four port with the 4309 PN. Just curious if the one in your sig is the same PN.Maybe my PN on the box is wrong?Originally posted by 88IROC350TPI

They are the same regulator. Technically it has 5 ports. 4 of them can be used for Supply and Feed and one is for Return. So I guess it can be called either a 4-port regulator (since it has 4 supply/feed ports) but in reality its a 3-port "style" regulator because it does 3 things. Supply, Feed, and Return.
