Carb swap in order?
Currently the car has the edelbrock Q-jet replacement #1910 which is a 850 cfm carb. From everything I have read and seen this is probably a bit too much for my 350 which falls around 300 HP. The carb runs great and needs little/no tuning (not that I would know how to tune it) except for a very noticeable bog when it is floored off a stop, almost to the point of killing the car. Is this a situation where too much air is being pulled in and leaning it out? Pardon my ignorance on the subject but is there some tuning that could be done on the edlebrock? Or would I maybe be better off by going with a lower cfm performer or a maybe a demon? Thanks

Chris, the Qjet will work just fine on a 350, despite the "huge" airflow numbers.
Your bog can be easily tuned out of the carb. The #1910 variant of the Edelbrock carb is the "universal high performance" version. Unfortunately, the secondary rods they put in it aren't even as good as the rods they put in the "stock replacement" versions of the carb! Get a hold of a set of "DR" rods from Edlebrock or from your local GM parts counter and put 'em in. Your bog will magically disappear.
If it's not fixed completely then check your air valve tension spring and make sure it's not too loose or too tight. About 1/2 turn from the "zero tension" point is a good starting point.
Also, check the adjustment of the little pushrod that holds the secondary air valve closed. With the engine running you should be able to push the secondary air valve open abou 1-2* before the rod prevents it from moving further. Any more or less and you risk a bog situation. To adjust it you simply bend the rod slightly.

ODB, that's the beauty of the q-jet. It can be adjusted to handle anything from a 283 to a 454. A 350 is just about right for the primaries, though, so Damon is right - use it!
