Open Air Cleaner Which One?
Which open air cleaner for my 1987 LG4 4bbl would be the best? The only modifications is no air/smog pump & assorted plumbing. Also what do I do with the single vacuum hose that runs from the stock cleaner to the carb?

Well, no one else took a stab, so here's mine:
You'll need a dropped-base air cleaner in order to clear the hood. I picked mine up at Pep Boys, I believe it was a Mr. Gasket (it's been a few years). Less than $20, as I recall.
Just cap off the port for the vacuum line that goes to the stock air cleaner. You'll also need to do something about the fresh air PCV intake that is filtered via the small filter in the cleaner housing, with the tube that goes to the passenger side valve cover. Cap-type filters are available, but I've had difficulty finding the 3/4" size required (I've had one for a long time that I used on mine). Most are 1-1/4".
Be prepared for changes in the way the car runs on the street. Especially negatively in stop-and-go traffic in hot weather.

Summit sells one with their name on the top for $14 or so and $20 to have no logo.

The only one I found in their latest paper catalog was a $40 "gauze" element (read: K&N) unit - that's why I didn't quote anything else.
You should be able to find a similar unit at most any store that carries even the least of performance parts.

After trying several. I'm staying with my $60 Eldebrok Traingular shaped housing with a K&N. Fits with no problems and provides ample room for adjustments.
I first got a generic round drop base and later had to add a 3/4" riser gasket so the base would clear all the attachments.
