My fuel pressure has been moving on me. I set it at 8, was at 3 today so I set it back up. I have the stock tpi fuel pump with mallory 3 port regulator. I figure my 87 fuel pump might be the problem, what do you think ??

Is the jam nut loosening on you? Just wondering I'm installing the mallory reg today. But I have the tbi fuel system, so maybe since it's not such high pressure, max of 15 psi I think it won't be a big problem for me.

The nut is not moving, I'm sure of that.

It's a pretty simple design. About the only thing that can go wrong internally is the diaphram could tear/leak or the the spring setup would get dislodged or something. A leaky diaphram would make the pressure higher I think (if I'm thinking about it right), something to do w/ the spring/jam nut setup is all I can think of that might lower pressure.

I suppose the plugs in the extra ports could be leaking a bit after some time has passed etc. Mine did that, had to torque em down real good w/ some locktite.

But to directly answer your question no, I haven't any such problem w/ my Mallory regulator. Pump problems would be my guess.

well so far I've ranged from 3-12 on start ups where it has been set on 7. I can only imagine what it is doing while I'm driving. The fuel pump is old, so I guess that will be the plan of action. I remember hearing people running an in-line electric pump through the existing disengaged stock pump, anyone point me in the right direction?? thanks

I recently installed the mallory fuel regulator in the switch from TBI to Carb. Once the initial leaks were fixed no more leakage. Pressure is set to 6.5 psi. IF I start to have problems I'll let you know.

My regulator wont keep the same pressure. It goes from 4-10 psi and the adjusting nut is not moving. Im looking at a inline pump

I've heard of similar problems before with that reg. The BG was better, but still gave me some problems. Pressure would drop as the car gor warm...so I had to set it almost TOO high at idle and startup. The stock pump may have been the problem..I don't know. I got rid of them both and did an elecric inline from summit.

I too have heard of pulling through the stock pump..however..it WOULD NOT work for me. I had to drop the tank, take out the pump and put in a pickup.

I have the mallory and at first it wouldn't hold a steady pressure and then I cranked the nut and it was fine.

Jester what year is your car? My 1983 CFI-car wouldn't let any fuel by the pump either.
