dash pads not compatible between firebird, camaro
Are the people who sell dash pads and say they fit firebird and camaro from 82-92 just completely stupid or are they outright lying? I have a dash pad from a firebird and it's almost a full inch less deep than the camaro one for 92 and that's just comparing a 90 firebird to a 92 camaro. There are people who claim even greater year differences across firebird to camaro to be interchangeable. This is definitely not so. On top of that, firebird dash pads dont have the indentation that camaro dashes do for the center ac vents.
Am i wrong or what? I'm looking to get a camaro dash pad but with people not even able to correctly label what they're selling, it's looking to be a pita to get one. Firebird dashes at least compared to camaro from 92, are not as deep as the camaro ones. I sat them side by side and the difference is obvious. So far ebay has been the greatest offender of saying camaro and firebird dashes are interchangeable. But i'm sure others do as well.
Just thought i should be clear and certain that this is the case. Also, to tell people that buying a dash from either make for the other is not a good idea even if it's being sold as a dash pad for both.

Uneducated sellers.
Be sure to ask them what it came off of, not what it will fit.
If you buy one on blind faith thinking it will fit, and it doesn't, the seller can just tell you, "too bad...you should have checked first" and you're stuck with it.

my favorite ads are those that say that the dash pads came off a firebird when it's obviously a camaro pad or vice versa. I've seen these tons of times on ebay.

I was sent a Firebird dash pad that was supposed to be a "mint" Camaro dash pad.

I will try to call the guy tomorrow and demand that he ship the gauges and gauge pod back that I sent him in trade.
