Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/member.php?u=179447

I sent this guy $350 as payment for a 1991/1992 Firebird front bumper from his thread here:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exte...-trans-am.html

Included for that $350 was also a set of side trim guards that he had listed on eBay.

He texted me he received payment on 8-24-14 and that it would ship out that Saturday via Greyhound. I got nothing but excuses from him why he couldn't ship weekend after weekend.

I told him on 9-26-14 my patience had run out and I wanted my parts! Now as of 10-9-14, he won't even respond to my texts asking when it shipped, what the tracking # was, or what the delivery date was.

On 10-15-14 I demanded he either provide me those details or send me a full refund. On 10-17-14 I asked if my parts were shipped or if he was sending me a refund. Still no response from him in the past 3 weeks.

This guy even PM'd me saying to text him to confirm my purchase because he had other buyers interested. Then he asked for pictures of the money order that I sent as if he didn't trust me. I still of course have the stub from that money order.

WARNING: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS GUY!!!!!

Wow, look at this:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...third-gen.html

This guy that's ripping you off said "I'm getting ready to start a 3rd gen business and do it the right way, and dominate the market" lol. This is ironic.

I hope you get your parts.

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92

Haha good luck to him on that! After we agreed on using Greyhound for shipping and he already received the money, one of his excuses was that he was having issues shipping it Greyhound. He then said he may have to wrap it in a tarp for shipping I told him I didn't care how he shipped it but that it better show up in the "perfect" condition he quoted in his for sale thread. Still weeks and week later, nothing.

At any rate, come next week if I still have no response from him, I'll be posting his full name, address, and phone number (along with the photo of the money order which has the envelope in the same pic with his address) on the forum and messaging the mods to ban his account.

I have all correspondence in PMs and texts so I don't know how this guy thought he was going to get away with it. I'm a patient guy and I understood when he told me his car broke down as one of his excuses, but I have my limits. Nearly 2 months is my limit!

I wouldn't have cared if he shipped it to me on the slow boat to China in a tarp long as I did get a REAL delivery date or tracking #. The rest of my parts have been sitting at my painters waiting for this guy to get his **** together. I look like an idiot telling my painter his excuses and "the guy said it will ship this Saturday" over and over again. SICK OF IT! I WANT MY PARTS!

Dammit, you're right, A Google search actually turned up another thread about him on this site!

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/clas...ia-itasca.html

The world would be a much better place if people just gave a little more than they received.

Attached is the pic of my money order with this guys info. I also added all of his info to my first post in this thread. Looks like I'm screwed.
I tried to look at your picture and got this?

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

UPDATE: He just texted me a few minutes ago with a tracking number saying his Sprint phone was to blame for not responding to my texts.

He gave me a Greyhound tracking # saying it has an ETA of this Friday. It doesn't list on their site yet though: http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/SiteP...kAPackage.aspx

I'll update again once I can verify the tracking # and once I receive the bumper and trim moldings. Perhaps he has changed his ways or I got lucky.

Either way, I removed his information from this thread until all this pans out, including the image of the money order and letter with his address.

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

The tracking # he gave me still shows not found on Greyhounds tracking site :/

UPDATE: I called Greyhound and he gave me an incomplete number, he left out the letters in front. It shows it's in AZ right now on it's way to me here in CA so it may in fact be here on Friday! I'm finally getting excited, I've been waiting for this things for 2 months now by the time it gets here lol.

I'll update once I pick it up if it is really in the "perfect" condition he stated in his for sale ad. I sure hope so because my paint guy has been waiting to paint it along with all of the other parts of mine he's been sitting on.

So at this point, all I can say is the guy sucks bad at communication and is unbelievably slow to ship.

Two months later and that's the best excuse he could come up with. . We have seen many like him come and go over the years and they all end up the same way..

I hope you get what you paid for and as described. Two months in not acceptable at all..

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

Well the front bumper arrived a day early. Here are some pictures.

The door moldings were curved really bad in the box and so I'm not really sure if I can save the one that I need.

The front bumper is OK, no rips, tears, or cracks as promised. Although it has a bad warp on the top of the drivers side and a really bad warp in front of the fog/turn signal lamps on the passenger side. Mine is perfectly flat so I'm not even sure how this happens. The warp on top might be caused by the metal brace that's still inside it being bent. Far the warps at the fog lights, maybe I can use a heat gun to flatten it

Also note that any black portions are simply where the white paint has flaked off. It's obvious this came off a car that rusted into oblivion lol.

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

Here are the other pics.

So all in all I'm just glad I got a decent front bumper I can work with and I'm not out my money. I don't know if it was this thread and my response to his others and my texts that finally motivated him to ship but I did get the one I paid for.

EDIT: I have the front license plate holder off and all of the metal bracing removed and all thrown away, wow was it rusted to **** haha! The warp on the top still remains on the passenger side, maybe a heat gun can help reshape that too.

All in all though, it's not bad and I'm glad I finally have it and get start getting it prepped for paint with my other parts and have everything painted before winter.

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

For being as old as it is it is very nice.
The part along the top that is curling is a problem with these years. The heat over the years shrinks the bumper and it starts to curl back like that.
I have seen them curled all the way across and sticking up an 1" or so.
I think you got a great bumper cover. The only thing I hate doing is sanding all that crappy cracked paint off.

I have had a bumper media blasted and it got totally messed up. (Guy didn't know what he was doing and got fired for it tho).
Guessing by the cracks the paint wasn't factory. That SEM stuff says its not for OEM baked on paint. I wonder how it would do on that.

Ha, I didn't even read where it said that! Totally explains why it didn't work on another part I had but worked crazy awesome on this one. Yeah this one was originally factory teal, sanded, primed black, then painted white. Stripped right down to the original teal no problem. Time to sand now.

I'm going to have braces made to correct the warping.

Good to know. This paint was so terrible the entire bumper was spider-webbed to all heck and you could just flake off the white paint with your finger nails lol.

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

Just to follow up, a urethane bumper repair specialist cost me $300 in repairs a couple weeks ago to straighten/remove the bad warps from this "mint" front bumper so I could finally have it painted

Call me crazy but as this point I didn't want to risk getting another bumper that also needed work that was so called "mint" so yeah, I just bent over and had this one corrected

agreed! No paypal, no business.

I know people will say how paypal didn't help them when needed, but its a heck of a lot better than a money order!

Re: Ripped off for $350 by TRANSAM82-92 (Louis Battaglia)

I posted this in another thread about why I don't use PayPal:

"I don't use anymore PayPal because about 10yrs ago I was ripped off for a laptop I sold on eBay. It was a huge fiasco and in the end they failed to cover me even though they KNEW the PayPal user account that had scammed me had been hacked and they were monitoring it's activity even prior to me becoming a victim. Total BS. They didn't even tell me until more than a week after I shipped the laptop. They simply deducted the purchase from my account leaving me several hundred dollars in the negative and of course, without the laptop. F PayPal.

I got ripped off for a Glock to the tune of $640 on GunBroker 3 weeks ago. I used my Chase card and they had no problem making things right."

I'm going to start using my PayPal business account for my company so this can't happen again. Hopefully PayPal doesn't have as sketchy practices as they did 10yrs ago. This business PayPal account of mine is only for processing payments on-site at a customers locations for services/parts. Guess I just start using it for this stuff too.

I too didnt trust paypal years ago but they have come a long way in recent years. When someone hacked my itunes account for 80.00 they were pretty quick to refund me. I also browse gunbroker alot. Im very iffy on buying from that site. Very good deals sometimes. But dont want to eat my hat on a pricy gun purchase. Take care.

What's messed up is the seller on GB I bought from had stellar feedback, it was an established legit business lots had bought from on the Glock forums I visit. They just never shipped it so I made a claim with Chase, very painless.

I sure hope PP has come a long way, they used to treat you like a criminal defrauded them when you made a claim back in the day.

Oh Boy I have police officers in my family, that said, they havent been getting good press at all lately, this just adds to it. He commiting fraud. And he is a leo. He should be thrown in jail.

One thing I might add to all this buying and selling buisness. Dont trust anyone when moneys involved. If you cant see the parts dont send money. If you chose to send money, use Paypal.Sad to say most peoples word means crap these days. That why I like to sell local and buy local if I can. They can touch and see before buying. I would never ever in a million years send money to someone for a car sight unseen. Buyer beware. If you take one thing away from this is one important lesson. ..When moneys involved, tread lightly and cautiously. They will tell you what you want to hear until they get your cash. I used to want to believe and give the benifit of the doubt to people. As I get older I get more cynical and the bs meter has realy sharpened its skill in sniffing out the liers.

Yep and don't post how it was actually more money to ship. I had to cut down box a number of times to ship it to you, which I explained to you. I paid the extra money and shipped it to you and didn't ask you for the difference because it took so long to get to you.

and Dave 3RD GEN parts, Yes I'm a Sheriff for the past 21 years...longer than you've been telling people you're a college student trying to restore your car, then you put the car or parts on this site and others for 10 times the amount you scammed the people out their car. you travel from place to place staying in hotels and only take US Postal money orders so people cant get their money back from you. Dave shouldn't you have been graduated yet or finished with your Knight rider car? Anyway that's all you can do is talk Sh*t on sites about me...
