solved a convertible leak
Background- I was getting puddles of water in the floor and under the seats in the back seat area.I couldn't figure where it was getting in.
The tonnaeu area has drain tubes that go between the inner and outer skin just behind the doors. There are little drain holes at the bottom of this void. If they get clogged like mine did it will hold water and then overflow into the car under the rug just behind the door. I had to use a wire hanger to make a tool clear the holes. You can best get to it by removing the plastic vent grill in the door jamb. I know it sounds easy but it took me a long time to figure it out.
Just another piece of wisdom from your ol' Uncle Tommy.

well-timed. i noticed those tubes when doing my gfx swap on my convertible, and just noticed a puddle on the passenger side this week, and wanted to take care of it before i put my new carpet in. i figured it was drainage related, but you saved me from having to figure it out...

My prayers have been answered!
Thanks, 89rs, I'm gonna look into this further. I've had the same problem on the couple occasions that the convert. has sat out in heavy rainstorms (which, fortunately, in So. Cal. doesn't happen very often).
BTW, how bad did you have to cut up your KB subs to get them to fit? Do the rears line up correctly with the LCA bracket mounts?

I have had my SFCs for a long time ,So I dont know if they are still the same. For the record no cutting and just had to bend passenger side tube up a little. I am very happy with them.

That's where all that water was coming from. I hope. After I put the new top on I was still getting lots of water in the floor. It rains here all the time and this has become my next project. Thanks for the great tip.

Drain tubes are not uncommon, as I was told the factory Cad sunroofs also have them, however, shots of access/ visable locations would be helpfull too.
I assume the top of the tube is not at the vent location? I've never looked on my bird. Odd

THANKS!
I've not experienced this problem yet but I am sure I will.
A plugged drain hole is probably the last thing I would look for if I were looking for a leak like this... Now I will check there first If I notice water back there...
Is there any chance of getting Pics of the drain holes. It would make them a lot easier for us to locate...
THANKS!
