styling bar??

Is there any kind of styling bar for the convertibles? If so where can I find one for my '92 Firebird?

Thanks, John

If you're talking about a roll bar more for appearance, thirdgenresource is in the process of producing one.

BTW, feel free to IM me...I'm on a local board based out of Tyler you might like to join.

LOL, nm, I just realized who you are.

Anyways, like I said, thirdgen resource is making a bar, but other than that no one makes them right now.

They have been saying theyre "reproducing" it for literally over 2 years now. I dont think it will ever be done, or he just doesent care to. If it were made, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Was that the car that was in Hot Rod (or some similar mag) not too long ago? It was pretty nice. I think the article even mentioned that the roll bar was custom-made.

If you guys have any fabricating skills (welding) at all. do like Tons of others have done. Buy 2 hooks summit has the Comp. Eng Hoops for 3rdGens 40bucks each.

Then you buy some aluminum sheets.

Tack the hoops in place as close as you want em. For the width of the done bars. Then you trim the Sheets to the proper width. tac it in place as you bend it over the 2 hoops. Top and Bottom. keep tac welding it all untill its one continus weld. dont just run a bead the sheetmetal will get to hot and warp. etc. Once all the tacs connect the dots and your happy with the looks grind tac grind tac untill your happy.

now get really creative if you like and do the same for back bars if your putting them in also.

I have Pic's of a Yellow 69 Drop top with a bar like this. (just a main hoop) It was also In HOT ROD MAG. well I talked to the Guy and seen the car in person at a show at Summit Racing. This is exactally How he did it also..

yep, you are correct, I believe they specifacally state it is "a styling bar, not a roll bar."

I like the 2 round hoops setup TPI383 mentioned
Hey TPI383 can you post that pic you said you had ?
I would love to see it.
