Top replacement shop

Hi guys,
I live in Yonkers , NY and I am trying to find a shop that can replace the convertible top on my 87 iroc. I have called a few local places and most said that they are not willing to do the job. I also would like to find a place that has had some king of experience in doing this. If any of you guys know please tell me.

I'm a long ways from New York. Maybe things are diffrent up there.

I went around to places who did automotive upholstery work and got estimates. I checked about ten places and never had anyone tell me they did not want the job...

How much did they quote you? I finally found one place and they want $1300 to do it. I think that is a bit overpriced...

Prices ranged from 800 to 1250 including the top. I got lucky with mine as I photographed the wedding of the daughter of the fellow who did the installation.

Have you looked into doing it yourself?

I have done a bit of reading on this and it doesn't look like it should be all that hard to do - just time consuming... I bought a copy of the GM installation manual for these tops and I've read stuff posted here by others on the subject and I feel like I would be capable of doing my own now... You could purchase a good "stayfast" top for about $300.00 You probably already have most of the necessary tools to do the job...

Wow! $1,300! Im in California and didn't pay a 1/2 of that. Mine was $550.00 out the door, and that included the top. A professional auto upholsetery place can do it in mear hours and you can get tops for very cheap.
