Top repair worth it?
I just bought a 1990 Iroc convertible. The top seewms to be in OK shape, but the vinyl window is all ripped up. I have seen places advertise that they can replace the window, but would it be worth it? Should I just get a whole new top? If so....with the vinyl, or glass? I know one thing for sure is that if I replace the whole top, It will be canvas. Price isnt that big of a deal to me because a good top is pretty improtant. Please give me some suggestions. Also, would it be easy to put in a new top myself?

I had a shop replace my rear window after roughly 5 years of owning the car. I replaced it because the window had turned brown and was torn in one spot. The window discolors like this from UV exposure. It cost around $100 for the window replacement, but that was a little over 8 years ago. The window is still clear, but I have a tear in the lower corner. Next time I'll be replacing the entire top. It is up to you whether the top is in good enough shape to justify replacing just the window. My 15 year old top is still in good shape, but has come loose from the bows, so it poofs up when driving with the top up.

Thanks for the input. I guess it comes down to install costs. I dont really mind paying $400 for a canvas top, but I dont really want top pay a ton for installation if I can do it myself. Do you know how tough it is to put on?
From everything I've ever heard it's a job best left to a professional. It's very easy to mess up the allignment and rip a new top. Mine has a solid rear window and it's worth it in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is I have to flip the rear seat backs forward in order to get the top up and down. Otherwise the window hangs on the seats.

So you think getting the glass is worth it? Isnt the window a ton smaller since it cant fold in the middle? I imagine it would have to be half the size and sit either above or below the fold line.

I also have the glass window top rfom TopsOnLine
Have to agree with cdartz about the rearseat latch. Have to keep mine unlocked so the rear seat back will drift forward for the top to go up and down. (Hmmmm...wonder why GM didn't put that latch on the driver's side....would make more sense to be there)
Window is a little smaller than standard vinyl but when you cconsider I was coming from a mildewed brown and completely hazed over window to one I can actually see out of, IT'S ALL GOOD
