Top Up or Down

I'm putting my convertible away for the winter.

Should I store it with the top up or top down? I normally keep it to down as I only take it out on nice days. Is keeping it top down most of the time going to cause any problems?

I would store it with the top up. This way it gives the top a chance to breathe or air out. If you leave your top folded up all the time it gets wrinkles and there is also a chance that mould will build up in the folded sections and sart to rot the top.

Mine is down, but its getting replaced in the spring anyways, so I dont care about it. Its a lot easier to take out an interior with the top out of the way. If I was keeping the top I had I'd remove the whole frame/top assembly and hang it on the wall or something while I worked on the car.

Store it top-up.

Where I live, if you get 5 nice days a month anymore, it's going in the records books. I've often had to go top up and down, though there are full cover 'boots' to just block off the interior, but doesn't do much for the rest of the exposed body.
On one extended summer sun drive, I wound up with sunburn on my neck and arms, not realizing, I had driven top down to my folks cabin, about 4 hours out of the city. In this case though, suntan lotion would have worked too

In the winter I have stored it with the top up but I have released the rear and front of the top.

Whenever I park the car in the garage with the top up I release the rear of the top so there is no tension. I can say that after 14 years the top still remains taught.

NO Problem

I'm glad I don't have the storage over the winter problem. I've been topless every day for the past week! Mornings have been too cool but my lunch hour and the communte home have been sans top!

I'll let you guys in on a secret. Anything north of Macon GA is too far North! (for me!).

Well, as you know, the major artic cold high is typically unbearable, but it's also keeping the snow and rain out of our picture and may actually set some more weather records in Minnesota. In North-Western corner, it was 30 below yesterday tey say. That's the worst I've ever been personally, and no, that was not windchill either! Oil froze in my Caddy.
