sub frame connector help
I need a little advice. my car is in desperate need of some sfc's. my door gaps are out of wack and when i jack the car up it fixes itself. so i'm guessing it's just the play in the body and some sfc's would fix it?? hopefully.. should i go with the top down solutions(alston) sfc's or should i go buy both kinds that are made? or would it be a waste of money to get both?
Has anyone tried to remove the origional rails off and put normal coupe sfc's on their vert? is it possible or worth it? my slp sfc's made a huge difference on my 97 SS.
to me it doesnt seem like a straight piece of metal will strengthen my body that much, unlike the huge slp ones i have that run down the side and bolt to the middle (3 point ones)
what should i do?
If you have either please post a pic of what they look like on the car, i say spohn's site and pics and dont really like the design, i'd like to see the alston's if you have em thanks

absolutely
place a jack under the jack point in the front and lift and the entire side of the car comes off the ground....can open and shut the door with it up with a LITTLE difficulty....not really recommended but it can be done

you kinda lost me there, not really sure what you were getting at. anyways, I'm planning on installing a lambo door kit some time in the near future, just for show. since my car probibly needs new door hindges anyways i thought i do those insted.
So your saying with the sfc's installed you are able to lift one side of the car up off the ground and still be able to open the door( meaning the sfc's are doing their job)?? thats kinda what i got out of what you said. did you bolt and weld yours in or just bolt? it doesnt look like your car had the rails along the underside of the ground effects.
and what jack point are you refering to? i just use the metal rail that asc put on. ?? with my car lowered i can barely get the jack under it, i have to lift up on the fender to get it under.
thanks for the pic and the info, i'll be buying some alstons shortly when the weather breaks and i can take my SS out of the garage long enough to work on my Vert.

just to clear a little confusion...
Those pics are not of my convertible. I found these on this site 6 or 8 months ago to use as an example for the installer that put mine in.
Mine are welded and bolted.... Underside of my car not near that clean.
Yes with the side jacked up, I can with difficulty open the door. Towards the front of the car @ 6 to 8 inches behind the front wheel well, is a jock point...little indentation in the framework. Place my floor jack there and lift the entire side of the car....enuf that i can put jackstands under it both front and rear.

I Got the TDS/Alstons
And it made a very noticable diffrence. I had them welded on and I could tell when I backed out of the parking space that my car was a lot stiffer. It made a big diffrence.
Is the TDS/Alstons better or worse than the others? I don't know as I have no experience with the others.

Where is a good place to get a good price on Alston SFC's for a convertible? How much did you pay for them?

Check out TDS Top-Down Solutions, just click on the sponsors link at the top of the page. I'm planing to offer a GP on them shortly. I'm just finalizing pricing details.

Well, as I wrote I need to calculate the final cost for the GP. I should have that all set tonight. The SFC's are already on order and nearly ready to ship. I estrimate they will be here in a week. Add a week for Powder-coat (if you want them coated). I also have a batch of steering braces due to be ready in about a week. They will all go to powder-coat together. I'll be offering both versions of the GP again (SFC solo and SFC + TDS Steering Brace). Bottom-line; the SFC GP will be shipped in roughly 2-3 weeks from now depending on finish chosen. Both black & red powder-coat will be offered in the GP.
Before anyone asks, I'll be offering a future GP soon on the Steering Brace once I have new price and delivery on laser-cut mount pads and center tubes.

Bought the SFC's and the WonderBar from Lon at TDS under one of his group purchase's
Actually bought two at the time. One for my Sport and one for my son's IROC...birthday present.... BOTH convertible's
Don't recall the price.....just over a hundred and change...IIRC
Came in black powder coated just like Lon is planning on this recent GP. Well worth the money for both of them.....

OK guys. The GP's are up and accepting orders. As before, GP1 is for the Alston SFC's, GP2 is for the SFC's + TDS Steering Brace (aka Wonderbar).
And yes Dan I'm going to the Meeting Saturday.

I appreciate the pics as there's little referencing outside of the Net, and this site from my experience. I'd like to get a bunch of undercarriage shots but also have little resource but will try some.
I have the 88 and on dual cat exhaust that are not used in the above reference. Due to the size and location, is it even an issue? It looks like it might be
