Rearview mirror with lights
Is it possible to install a rearview mirror with lights like the one pictured, in a convertible?

my 92 vert came with that mirror, so I dont see why not.
you will need to run the wire harness up there for the power
hum, were to get the harness,,,,,,,,,same car you get the mirror out of,,,,or I think (but I could be wrong) power mirrors use the same shape/style plug, find a parts car with power mirrors and grab the harness.

DITTO Again
My '90 RS came with that same mirror.
I bought an AutoDimming miror off Ebay to put there but when I got it I discovered that I would lose the lights there so I kept the stock lighted mirror.
I would be surprised if you don't already have aire run behind the windshield trim for the lightted mirror... If you don't you should be able to just splice into some of the other interior lights like the lights under the dash and extend that circiut to your mirror lights. The lights are wired up so that they come on when you switch them on or whenever you open a door...

Thanks for the info. Found a mirror on ebay I can pick up cheap.
You would think they would have put them in all verts because of a lack of a dome light.

they started putting them in with the new interiors in 1990. but every 90+ has it. My 92 had it, my 91 has it and my 88 doesnt. It helps having some light in a convertible, but it doesnt do much.

I saw a while back where someone with a vert had worked something out where a DOME light was adapted and put in place of the Ash tray on the back of the console. Looked pretty slick. It was wired so that it worked just like the dome light on a coupe. On when doors open and on at the light switch/instrument rheostat...
One day when I have nothing else to do...

Does your 90 have the courtesy lights in the rear side panels ?
my 89 does not, the 92 I parted did.
the courtesy light on the rear inner tail panel look same/similar
to the ones in the rear vert side panels, look like an easy upgrade for the ones without lights.
I suppose you could use any light, but you might want to make it look stock.
here's pic of the 92 rear panel with the lights, I wish I had a pic of the rear tail panel light here at work

My '90
My car did not come with interior lights other than the mirror. I believe the lights you show came on in the '91 model.
I will probably do the ashtray swap when I get the time as it is a bit easier. I get tired of removing interior panels to do stuff!
The project doesn't have any real priority with me. I might get to it one day!

I have an 88 vert and swapped out the plain rearview for one with lights and pulled out the rear ash tray and put in a pivoting dome light out of a dodge van. Both were simple to do. I dont have any interior lights in my sail panels either

My totally stock-at-the-time 89 RS'vert had the mirror with the lights and no rear panel lights. The wiring is quite simple on these:
orange=12v battery positive
white=negative door pinswitch wire(same color behind either kickpanel)
black=ground

My 89 also came with a lighted mirror. the only diffrence between mine and the picture is, mine has two switches to turn on one light at a time if you want. If you open the door they both come on.

I ended up replacing mine with one of those mirrors out of a late model Suburban with the outside temp indicator/ compass. Being that it IS a'vert , the outside temp indicator is a bit on the redundant side but it sure does look spiffy. My original mirror was just the one '89rsragtop described.

Mine has a standard no-feature mirror, but there are domed plastic lights under the dash and in the center covered console, mine has no bulb and the switch and cover are removed and the lid broken. I use it often as a cupholder anyway so made due as such
