look at your rpo codes which will be on a sticker on the inside of your arm rest. The RPO code for IROC is B4Z. If it has B4Z, it's an IROC, if it doesn't, You don't....pretty simple

WRONG! In 1988 GM in its ultimate wisdom did away with the Z28 and made the IROC Z a standalone model. SO your '88 will not have RPO B4Z because essentially if it wasn't a base model Lt or RS(or whatever designation the lower models got) you have an IROC Z. Look throught your RPO's I believe rpo Z28 will be there as it was a suspension type rpo, also if you got the 16" rims and 245 series tires that is also a clear indicator.Hope htis helps.

Zedder is correct. RPO B4Z was only used in 1985 - 1987, when the IROC-Z package was an option on the Z28. The IROC-Z became the base sport model in 1988 but RPO B4Z was not used. Ironically, RPO Z28 was used on IROC-Z from 1988 thru 1990. Go figure...
It is true that the 16-inch wheel was exclusive to the 1988 - 1990 IROC-Z and a car that's equipped with them is proof that it is an IROC-Z. Look inside the driver's door jamb for the tire decal. It will list the original tire size. Although this information is good, having a suspected IROC-Z with 15-inchers does not rule it out as a true IROC-Z. That's because 15-inchers were made the standard rim size on 1988 IROC-Zs and the 16-inch wheel was an option.
