St Charles, Missouri...i didn't know there was a St Charles in IL

my car was bought in IL, by a nephew of the owner of Anheiser Busch. treated it like CRAP, i got it and it had Betty Boop floor mats, the paint was trashed, the seats were ripped...the best part was the mileage @ 32,xxx

Yeah, bought it from a thirdgen user - his brother owned the car since new. I bought it sight unseen and had it shipped back from St. Charles, Il. Needed lots of stuff, but with a starter, battery, alternator, tune up and removal of the alarm system, it runs and drives. I've got the car running very well, and addressed all but a couple of small issues.

Will need paint in the spring. Had 89,000 miles and the original seats were included and mint, because the car had Recaro's in it...

Funny about the floor mats - I hate stuff like that, Jeg's and Summit stickers, etc. Sorry to those of you who have them, but I just think it makes it look like a high school kids car. I should probably quit while I'm ahead!

mine didn't have one of those, but it did however have a Chevrolet new car lot dealership decal on the spoiler

that was the first thing i fixed haha...then it was the interior, then the floor mats, then the paint, and now wheels and new top....it's all a process

911rsq, I have seen more Edelbrock stickers that I have Edelbrock products on cars, with the exception of many cars on this site, which actually seem to have in them the stuff that the stickers claim!

BlueZee28, yes, it's a process for sure. Everytime I remove a bolt or screw from my car for any purpose, I find myself taking a wire wheel to it to get it shiny again, I even replaced the stalk on that does the wipers and cruise because the white letters were worn off... it will be very nice when I'm done!

I hate those 'ads' that dealers put on with paint. I remember in Boston when I was a kid they used to drill HOLES in the trunk and install a chrome emblem with the dealer name! Such BS!

In California it's illegal to put those markings on a car - all they can do is give you their license plate frame....

Christmas gifts are always good. At least winter is upon us and this isn't cutting into your driving of the car......

I really love watching people bring IROC's back to life - that's probably why I have so much fun with my 'vert... good job on choosing the coupe for a 2nd car!

thanks!

what happened was this guy that just moved in right up the street from me on new years eve, he is REALLY good at working on cars and stuff...and he knows a guy who just bought a house that was, well, a lil' out of his price range, and he needed money to make a monthly payment so he had to get rid of his Iroc. so the guy up the street bought it, and put some money into shocks, struts, hood shocks, intake, fuel pump, etc. which was good b/c those are things i wouldn't want to have to hassle with if i bought a car. but anyways, he bought the car for i think $500.00 and he just wanted what he put into it so he sold it to my dad for $1,300.

and yea it's cool that it's a coupe, although a t top car would had been nice. it's not gonna be mine anyways, after we're done fixing it up, my sister gets it when she turns 16... my dad says i already have a nice enough car, and he'd rather her drive a Camaro that we fixed up than buy her a used beetle or something... which i can understand b/c a newer car would cost a bit more.

good job on the new car.. im about to order my top through tops online as well. I hope i dont have the hassle that your experiencing. I am also going to order the glass stay fast top. the biggest thing that depresses me is the cost of the weather stripping. ***, its so bloody expensive. Is there ANYWHERE that sells it cheaper than what Hawks, or FBODY MOTORSPORTS does? I cant find it cheaper anywhere. I heard that SoffSeal is reproducing it now, but i havent seen it anywhere.

Oh Yea, My Father-In-Law lives in St. Charles..and my wife graduated from Francess Howell IIRC..

yea call them and tell them to make sure they get the right top lol. the glass window looks like it's gonna be real nice, it's makin' me real eager to see it on my car tinted...

and yes the weatherstripping is FREAKING EXPENSIVE. $100+ for one part...

for some reason i have had problems finding the passenger side window stripping, i have the driver side ordered, but i can't find passenger side....it's pissing me off

Well I hope that somebody reproduces the weather stripping, since I really need the passenger side top of window seal as well. I have been looking for about a year now and have not came up with anything.

I just talked to bruce from Hawks Thirdgen Parts and he told me that he is having all of the convertible weatherstripping reproduced. I gave him my cell phone number to let me know the second he has them available. He said to look for them around january ish.
