Interesting car. Has option level 4. Which includes fog lights! However it looks like a car that was sent to the dealership or customer and then converted by ASC. As opposed to built by Chevrolet, not that there is a lot of difference!

But, there is a 2 in the vin where a 3 would be in a factory vert, and the unusual ASC emblem which is something ASC did on customer converted cars.

Very nice car none the less.

In his ad: "87 Camaro Special Edition Convertible factory built!" with the VIN: "1G1FP21S6HN131202". Gotta love it. The VIN sixth digit tells all:

2 = coupe
3 = convertible

What does this mean? It is NOT factory built. Rather, it was either: 1) Originally sold as an LT coupe and the customer paid ASC for the conversion, or 2) The selling dealership paid ASC for the conversion and sold as a convertible. Either way, it is not nearly as rare as a "factory" LT convertible, of which I know of only two in existence. There are no official production numbers as the LT was an option on the base sport coupe, similar to the IROC-Z, which was an option on the Z28. There is no record of option combinations.

Also, for a factory Sport Coupe convertible, it must be equipped with the LG4 V8 and automatic transmission. So yes, this particular car is rare (by sheer numbers) but it is not considered a collectible in the true sense of the word.
