Hey, its me Nick.
Actually, a few of us have found that we can't get that piece anywhere.
The best option for your friend is to have the tonneu cover repainted with a few extra coats of clear, so it has enough to wet sand and buff down when the top starts chewing through the clear.

Nick you know the car, its that white vert that was in bowling green. his orig piece was yellowed so he picked at it one day while observing it and to his suprise it peeled right up. the paint was perfect around and under the decal but he would like to find another even thouh the car spends most of its time with the top down and in the garage.

ya know, thats not a bad idea!! i wonder how much it would cost to repro this part with the correct material type, make it just diff enough to not get sued by GM but close enough only the tru purest of purest can tell the diff.

yea I saw that car in BG. it's really nice
Only thing with the 3m stuff is it will leave 2 creases, one at each corner where you have to fold it over to get it to curve around the corners. Best bet is to strip it and repaint it with extra clear coat

i did the detailing on that car right before bowling green. he had a MATCO pro series 6 drawer rolling tool box i wanted and he wanted a good detail sowe made the trade. he was selling the box for $250 and he really wanted it just gone as he was just kicking his toes on it.
i talked with him last night about getting them produced as he knows someone in the industry. if we go thru with it i'll make sure everyone knows.

Actually I was able to buy a Brand NOS one from Modern Day Muscle, I paid $120 ish for it, But it was GM... It was made in 2005, and it had already started to yellow
but I assume they all will eventually yellow as thats the nature of them. I guess I should add the decal only looked yellowed, I have not applied it yet as I am not yet ready. The paper may be what has yellowed and not the decal. BUT its better than trial and error by trying to make one myself.

the orignial stuff IS from 3M.....
and you can get a big roll of it, and have someone cut it on a plotter... the biggest problem is.... its pricey... you can only get rolls of it, and its not cheap.

thanx John for that info, i was thinking about contacting MDM as they can get or have alot of harder to find parts.
i could buy the correct GM piece, make the needed changes, cut our own slightly diff design and sell for less. if the sales idea dosent go thru atleast we know where to get one.
