91' Z28 vert .. paint idea

im about to paint my 91 camaro convertible once i get a cowl induction hood and new front bumper

i just dumped $3500 in the motor .. so i goes really nice .. just need the looks to back up the power ..

originally i was going to put down 4 coats of either a corvette black or mercedes black .. and red racing stripes .. then 6 coats of clear (3 coats, then wetsand, 3 coats, wetsand again / buff)

then yesterday i was thinking .. what about doing the same paint scheme as new camaro convertible .. the orange with black stripes (looked like flat black to me ?? )

anyone think it would look good .. or should i just stick with my shiny A$$ black idea ..

thought it would be pretty sweet when i bought a new camaro convertible and sat it next to my 3rd gen convertible that had the same paint

Paint it the original color with silver painted stripes going down the top of the car.

The only orange that looks really good on 3rd gens is the sunset orange metallic like on the LS1's.

Black and red stripes would just be a '92 Heritage clone. You don't want that do you?

i was talking about the new 2010 camaro convertible .. that orange and flat black stripes ..

neways ... after thinking about it, it might be TOO out there to look right ..

might just go with a really nice and shiny black ..

our cars didnt come with silver stripes did they ??

Yea that's what I mean, I think the only orange that looks good is the LS1 metallic orange, I don't really like the Tang orange that is on the new convertible Camaro in the magazines.

The only silver stripes that I know came on 3rd gens is on the 1992 Purple Haze Camaros.

Unless you plan on keeping the car forever, keep it simple. I cant tell you how many cars I see with poorly painted stripes. The idea sounds great, but If you eventually sell, you just cut your buyer list in half imho. Go with a quality 1 color paint job.
