how many verts are still on the road?

I am currently restoring a 92 red firebird vert. It is easy to find out the production numbers. What I am really interested in is how many are registered or are on the road still. Does anyone know how to find this out or any suggestions. I would simply like to know how many of these cars are still exist.

The best thing you could do is find all of the VINS for the cars and then run them thru CARFAX & Autocheck... Good luck with that...

I would guess that you would find roughy 10% were totaled, 10% have little or no information on them, 10% have only one record since the year they were made. and you will also find that 10% or more were never reported as crushed. My guess is about 40% to 60% are still out there rougly... 20% are being stored by owners, 20% are being used for parts cars.

Re: how many verts are still on the road?

Keep in mind that there were About 33,000 Verts total made, give or take. This probably would include All ASC, Matrix3, CCC, Autoform, Hi-Line, CAR, and whatever other name you can think of.

I would think about half of them survive in any condition worth selling...

But thats only a guess...

Re: how many verts are still on the road?

I'd cut the percentage "alive" to less than half, John. Even today a Third Gen vert can be had by a teenager with modest means and we all know how well they drive. I can recall over a handful of threads on TGO alone that represent what I call the "Teenage Attrition Factor" (TAF).

Yeah, I want my car to start appreciating already!

Re: how many verts are still on the road?

I live in Louisville, which is getting to be a larger city than most. I have to admit until I purchased mine, I had never seen a early 90s firebird vert. Still have not seen one and I have been looking. And I am not the only one. I have people tell me all the time that they didn't know they made them.

I can't wait until warm weather so I can get mine out. Putting new top on this week. I have spent a ton on it thus far. Getting ready for paint and new engine, tranny, etc...

I don't really have any photos yet. I am putting on a new top within the next couple of days. I will take a few pics and show after that.

That was the whole reason I bought the one I did even with the salvage title. They were so rare to find. Ironically though, now that I've had it, I've seen two running around this area. I also saw one on my way to Florida a couple of weeks ago. I know I enjoy the hell out of mine.

Re: how many verts are still on the road?

Hey Okfoz, Is there anyway to find out how many 1987 GTA verts were made. I know I was told a few days ago that there were 173 Firebird verts made in 1987 but Id like to know how many of those were GTAs. Who could I bribe to get me that info. I sure would love to know.

Re: how many verts are still on the road?

I've seen one other one in my town. It's actually for sale at a dealership nearby for cheap because no one wants it. If I had extra cash I'd love to pick it up, even being a v6/auto car. It's a triple black one though, so it still looks good.

A friend of mine moved to Los Angeles a month or so ago and send me a cell phone picture of my cars twin (stock) down there, which was cool.

So, add three to the list. Ha!
