Guys,
their is a camaro convertible at a local junkyard, its a 1989 Iroc. i know how hard is to find parts for these so if anyone needs something i might be able to snag it. i know this is not the classifieds but just want to alert all the convertible guys, since i own 3 and know how hard it is to find parts. they are so RARELY seen in the junk yards! so, parts i saw it had good:

trunk-
tonneau cover-
plastic moldings on end of tonneau cover (by seat belts)
Plastic moldings on rear of door, (hold the rear panel in place)
rear panels (on convertibles only) have been cut slightly to fit speakers it seems
spoiler (with brake light)
exterior side moldings leading to spoiler (the pieces that lead from door to trunk)
cable & hardware to release convertible top
convertible top frame- in good condition (southern california!!)

if im missing anything you guys think you might need let me know, just send offers of what you WILL pay for the items, prior to me going out and removing the items. i live down the street from the junkyard and can take pics if need be. if the offer will cover what i think the cost is and a beer for me (LOL) then its yours! im just trying to help, this website has been A LOT of help to me! thanks guys!

 

If the 89 frame is similar to that of the 89. I am in need of the "coathanger" rods that flip bow 2 up.

Yes, the little rods that flip bow 2 up when your lowering the roof. When sitting in the seats, they are right above your shoulder. I can get pics if needed.

 

I could use the seat belt trim pieces(caps at the end of the tonneau)and the small weatherstrip pieces that are underneath them,also the plastic trim that runs along the #1 bow by the lock handles on the top itself.Might also be interested in the release cable & hardware(lever,pin,clip...etc) What color is the interior?

the two trim pieces at the end of the tonneau cover and the weatherstripping are in good shape. i actually brought those home, i can post pics.

the plastic piece which you are talking about that goes by the handles -on the top- was broken. (this was the first peice i checked since mine is broken to)

the cables and brackets etc. were all their- no idea what they're worth. i'll pick them up this afternoon. and post pics.

the interior is grey, so all the trim pieces are black. I'll try an post pics of them. i just dont want this to turn into a thread that should be in 'classifieds' im just trying to offer whats available here, i see alot of good pieces in junkyards that sell for way too much on ebay, or f-body sites. Maybe us Cali guys take things forgranted, for instance, when i was at the junkyard i saw a dash for a trans am that was in near MINT condition, but i own 3 camaros, and didnt bother with it. i just realised maybe i shoulda got it to help someone out, instead of letting it go to waste. I'm not trying to become rich of these parts LOL.

 

Appreciate any help I can get finding parts for my vert.Like you said they dont show up too often in the junkyards and Im not looking to spend a fortune buying parts on ebay.Ill pm you my email address for pics and we can take it to pm`s from there so the thread doesnt go off topic

 

Yer right stuff is mad hard to find fer those. I am in need for the center spoiler piece cuz mines got no studs. If you could get an idea of how much it would be, including shipping to NJ 08060, I may implore you to help me.

the center spoiler section is their and it has all the studs i believe, but 1 of them is loose, it spins freely. will need repair, the rest is good. the car is red by the way. i bought a spoiler in the past for my buddies T-TOP and the things cost (if i remember correctly) 70-75 bucks. i will confirm this when i return to the junkyard. I will pick this piece up anyways, if you want it, its available if not i'll list it in classifieds, but you asked first. ill post pics as soon as im able.

 

If the first guy doesn't buy the spoiler center section I am interested, also interested in the two end pieces at front sides of tonneau. Thanks, Mike

if the others fall through, i'd like the seat belt trim pieces that go in front of the tonneau cover. also interested in the pass. side door jamb trim-the long thin piece that runs up the rear quarter behind the door. you said the interior is grey, correct?

 

yea the interior is grey, ALL the trim pieces are black. i have a set of these trim pieces in tan, (dont know if they can be painted or not).

Ill try to post pics today, i know i keep saying it, but i get hella busy sometimes!! sorry aboutthe delay guys!

i went to the junkyard and brought everything home. i need to clean them up and post pics, no later than sat night. if i have time today i will take care of it today.

I wouldn't mind having a few back up pieces, tonneau release cables, tonneau cover (vinyl covered piece or the entire thing), the bow trim pieces, any good weatherstipping from the top or where the door closes.

I live in Sacramento and am down there once in a while with business and can pick them up. Let me know what you have!

I need the black rubber or plastic covered tin welting that covers the metal body edge of the well that the top folds into. I can get a pic of mine if you don't know what I mean from the mangled description. Thanks for the help.

 

If the latch plates on the window frame which secure the top are the earlier "screw" type, I'd like to get those, since I have a complete earlier top frame assembly that I can't use on my '91 ragtop. Thanks for saving those parts, it's a good deed, for sure!

Guys.......just saw this post, but am desperately in need of the spoiler center section and brake light for an 89RS. The studs are still attached to my car and am willing to repair one if necessary.

 

Hopefully he will let us know soon when these parts will be available
