EFI Connection's 91 Trans Am Convertible Project

I finally got around to putting the 91 T/A convertible project on the website. If you would like to follow the build, please bookmark http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn...91TransAm.aspx. Updates (with images) will be available there. I'll also post some pics in this thread as they are available.

The car has been pretty much in a disassembly state, but we're now starting to put it back together.

That engine is the sexiest thing I've ever seen.

The coil per cylinder info can also be followed in the DFI and ECM forum. I can't seem to get the direct link to work without the URL being put into the browser twice creating a broken link.

It's a system we're prototyping at the moment. It works very well.

I see the site, but I can't tell if the car ever got finished. Did it? Can you put up pictures?

The car has been sitting collecting dust for the last two years. It may be 2012 before this car has priority. I've been considering using the Gen IV GM electronics and possibly a 6L80E/6L90E transmission.

Glad to hear that the project hasn't completely stopped!

I've been strongly considered using your setup for my car.

What would be the benefit/difference of using a 58x vs. 24x?

Would it work with the rest of the factory gear like the gauges etc?

24x gives you...
- cable or electronic throttle
- 4L60E, 4L80E, and T56 transmission support

58x gives you...
- electronic throttle only
- 4L60E, 4L80E, 6L80E, 6L90E, and T56 transmission support
- a higher learning curve to ECM tuning than the 24x

Gauges: yes all functional, but the tach will require a Dakota Digital interface
module
Etc: ???

It was junk. Thrown out with the trash a few years ago.

Looks like I'll be going with the 24x system then

I already have the Dakota Digital interface because I have a T56 6-speed.

My "etc" was oil temp & pressure, fuel, and voltage. From your post the tach will also work.

I'm looking forward to the system!

Those are based on sending units and are unrelated to swapping ECM/PCM.

Have you made any progress on this project? I've seen the rebuilt TPI motor with your setup on eBay.

No new progress on the car. I hope to begin working on the car next year.
