Where to Find Special Tools?
I am contemplating changing my covertible top. I would like to know if anyone knows of the special tools needed and where I could purchase them. Is cloth or vinyl better and where is the best value to buy this top at? I believe I can find the schematics and tech instructions on changing the top on this site.
I am in Europe so I want to get this right the first time out. Any other tips are helpful.

there are no real "special tools" needed. weldwood contact cement a stapler and some clamps to hold the top in place. the canvas tops are way better than the vinyl.

Correct me if I am wrong, was not the Stafast top the original type material?

that's correct. The stayfast canvas is the oem material used for all convertibles. The vinyl is just a cheaper way to do it but I don't like the look of it too much.

Re: Where to Find Special Tools?
I bought mine from topsonline.com very good quality not sure on overseas shipping cost. If you need any help possibly if you find a good deal but they don't do international shipping I could help you by sending it to me and I would ship it to you. your cost but if I can help let me know. The statfast canvas tops are about $360. You could probably find it a little cheaper though but watch who it comes from some tops aren't made as good as the topsonline ones I think they are actually made by Robbins

Thank you for the info. If I need someone to send it over here I will give you a call. Also do you know where I can get the special convertible top glue to secure the top.

not sure if you can get it there but I use Weldwood contact cement holds very well.

and a rivet gun (If I remember right they are 1/4" aluminum rivets) and a good stapler. and some spring clamps.

just take your time removing the old top you will see what needs to be done. start behind the windows and get that where you want it then stretch the top to fit and glue it and keep the clamps on there long enough to let it dry. also make sure you clean all the old glue off and wipe down anyplace that will get glue on it with Acetone. hope this helps.
