Well first off I would like to say hello again! I am not a new owner as I already own my 1991 Camaro (My first car). Well I stumbled upon this new camaro yesterday and decided to watch it. Today came around and I got it. I am very ecstatic. This is by far one of the nicest camaro's I've seen and I have the opportunity to own it. Anyway, I have a few problems. First it needs a new top. I saw the list in the sticky's but I was wondering how dependable they are and if they are durable? Second, mom hates the fact it is a vert. I was wondering if there are roll bars out there for it? If not I may have to find a full roll cage which I would rather not do but am willing to make the change for the conveince of my mom.

Now are you guys ready to hit your self for not getting it? Paid 2600 I have to pick it up soon. Probably skip tomorrow and get it. Has full stereo and the dash has been switched to trans-am. It's pretty nifty.

That is nice. Not a fan of all the flames and the hood though. Definately a very good deal though!

 

I bought a second gen with wild custom paint a while ago and paid very little for it on ebay for the same reason. Crazy paint is a big deterrent for a lot of people, which often makes for a very good deal for the car itself.

 

I love camaro's, don't get me wrong.....
but have you seen a firebird dash? They just look cooler. I think the round openings gives it a classy look.

I like the paint job except the face thing on the hood. I bet you could get that painted over relatively cheaply.

Don't know what it would do if you actually rolled the thing, but should make mom feel better. I'm sure you could find a cover for it too, I've seen fox mustangs with 'em. I'd bet you could modify a mustang one to fit over it to pretty it up.

Just tell your mom that you will only drive slow in it because your trying to pick up chicks. If that doesn't work just say if you crashed you'd rather be dead anyway, that's what I tell my wife.

There's still WAY more protection in your vert without a roll bar than if you were to ride a motorcycle. Also the F-body vert is a sweet low wide car with great lateral handling. You'd have to be doing something, or getting into something completely insane to get your vert on it's roof! I actually feel safer in my vert than in many top heavy and tippy SUV's (even with a roof, LOL).

 

Her you go dude, Merry Christmas..... A GM stock Canvas "BLUE" top brand new in box. for $150....The guy had 2 and I just bought one of them. Macao can respray that car if it needs no body work cheap and you will have one sharp car that you can drive for a summer and flip in the fall and maybe double your money. Oh and forget the rollbar it will look stupid and drop the value. Nice find!!!

Congrats on the purchase. I'm also not a fan of the flames, but for the price, you can always change it if you don't like it yourself.

I also like the TA dash conversion. Love the red lights. I was considering doing that to my 92 Camaro had I kept it. Looked like lots of work though.

I didn't see... what kind of engine is in it? Is it auto or manual? What year?

Bought and paid for just one problem, I just found out there are 2 different tops for this year. How do I know this is the right one?

Never heard anything about there being 2 different tops for a 91. The ad says it fits a 91 and it better. Mine should be here today. Not that I can do anything with it. There's a foot and a half of fresh snow and my car won't be able to leave the garage for some time. I have a whole new interior, sterio system and soon new top and can't get it to the shop to have it all installed. sucks I have to wait. You'll probably have your's installed before me. Please let me know how it came out....post pictures.

 

Well I think there was a 87-mid89 and a mid89 to 92 and I don't know which one I have lol.

Thanks, I drove it around the block and got 1 good comment and many heads turned. I am not sure if it was because of the paint job or the fact I was driving with the top down in 20 degree weather. Lol, I needed to see the Check Engine Light go on to get the code and my top is crap. :P

 

Got to keep the paint job, even if it's not your taste, only because it probabaly cost more than you paid for the car! However, I'd rather see 91 wheels on it, or even aftermarket ones. With that paint, aftermarket would seem fine. As for a roll bar, you could get one made by any fabricator that would bolt to the floor. I'd get it just about the height of the seat and only on the driver's side, but you'd have to get it powder coated or painted to match IMO.

 

Top showed up on Tuesday. Was surprised how small the box was. Was expecting something bigger. Top looks small but is mint. Can't wait to get this installed. Was going to wait till spring since I'm not driving it anymore but now I don't want to wait.

 

I got mine yesterday, ordered it Monday. Go UPS! But I just noticed that the top is not the right one for my camaro.

 

How is it not the right one? What are you looking at? Now you have me worried. I have a 91 Z Do you?

 

I have an 89. I measured the back window and the one on my camaro is 44 inches and the one I bought is 41 inches.

 

So what if the window is smaller? A glass one would be real small. Doesn't mean the top won't fit.

 

Also the seems are shorter. The one on my camaro is 52 inches that top is 50.

You had me worried. I just layed my new top over the old one and it's a perfect match. Is it possible they send you the wrong top and have the correct one. The guy seemed pretty cool give him a call.

 

When I laid mine down it looked fine but the measurements are different. I don't know lol.

 

Bring it to an shop tomorrow and find out for sure. That's what I'm doing. Got quoted $380 and am told that's a cheap price. I post a picture when it's done. I love the color. Looks way better than black.

 

I would rather learn myself cause 380 dollars is a lot of money. So far I have only spent an hour prepping it and I almost have it done. You just got to make sure you have ALL that damn adhesive off or else the top won't stick. I am going to lay it on the car later today and find out if it will work. Last time I laid it the other top was still on so I was not sure.

 

I want to see more pictures. What are you going to do with your other Camaro?

 

Not thrilled at blowing $380 myself, but not something I dare attempt on my own in an unheated garage. Shops all closed today. How dare they be closed when I'm in need. Looks like you'll be done with this project before me. Again please post a picture of the finished product.

that car was on ebay wasnt it? i remember seeing it.

The paints ok, a custom touch, but it will be a real pain if you need any touch up work done.

As for the interior, the bird interiors look much better than the maro ones, not as plasticy and cheap looking. The console is much nicer too.

Im probably going to catch hell for that statement, and while they wont say it, deep down inside all maro owners agree.

 

After seeing those new pictures I'll agree that paint job is fine. Maybe look for a blue Z28 hood. If one comes along.... and you know one will. Can't wait to see it with the new blue top up.
