ASC undercoating

I was wondering what other people have found on their ASC converted Firebirds & Camaros. I know that I have what appears to be a light black undercoating spray around the pieces and places that were converted or changed by ASC.

Do all ASC verts have this, or not?

Thanks

Re: ASC undercoating

I have never found any evidence of an undercoating or other surface prep, only some adhesive in a few places. Mine is a 91 built by ASC in March of 91. Where, specifcally, have you found undercoating on your 89? Knowing that, I will look again in these places.

I just looked at a 1990 IROC and it didn't have any undercoating..

Re: ASC undercoating

Inside the rear quarter area mostly.

I know they flattened the top of the inner wheel well, so it may be from that.

Re: ASC undercoating

I have it, all along the riveted area of the added sills too. Looks more like sprayed on glue but it is black and bumpy.

I also have it on my 92 Z28 vert, all along the factory subframe. Mine was made in May of '92

Re: ASC undercoating

Mine was built around the same time as Randy's, and I have it in the right rear quarter panel:

I also have it underneath, and that is what I really question:

You can see my panhard bars aren't completely covered, the muffler is partially covered and the end of the intermediate exhaust pipe near the muffler inlet is partially covered.

Mine is a 1992 Trans Am Convertible, by the way.

Re: ASC undercoating

My car isn't a vert, but i have the same undercoating on my car. even on the door jams i got a little plastic piece that says something like "rust proofing", and when i pulled it out there is a hole about 3/8", shined a light in there and it looks like black undercoating. Also underneath my car it looks EXACTLY as JT's. my original exhaust was slightly sprayed, and even my driveshaft has undercoating overspray on it.
