trunk hinge removal?????

ok i have a question. i got into a lil body damage a while back. my trunk hinges are bent and i need to remove them to be able to either install a new pair or heat them and bend them back to close to there orignal shape. i have the trunk lid off, but how do i get these off? i cant feel a bolt and i cant see a way to get them off.. is there a way to get them off? without haveing to do some sergery to the car? ive at the point where im about to cut away a lil panel on the inside of the car to access them and take them off and reinstall with a regular bolt.

Re: trunk hinge removal?????

the hinge is affixed with rivets. the whole convertible conversion plug was installed as one assembly. you will probably have to cut into the interior sheet metal above the wheel house.

Re: trunk hinge removal?????

I have a set in a 92 parts car if you need them I could cut them out (with the metal arround them) and then you could figure it out from there or you could come and get the remains of the car cheap, it is going to the schreader when I am done with it rear end is still in decient shape, it took a front end hit we are in kansas
