Hey guys, the orignal 3rd brake light lens on my vert has a couple of blisters on it. I guess someone must have put the wrong bulb (to hot) at one time or another. I was bugging me so I started the search for another one. After a little research & reading treads here, I discovered the one on my car could be replaced with one fron a 85 -89 Lincoln Town Car! First picture is the original in the car. Second picture is out of the car Third is the replacement lens ($20.00 total off eBay).
Here's the tag on the back from the wrecking yard (bonnettesauto on eBay)! Mustang lenses were not the same for my application. By the way, the only difference between the two is the replacement has the ford emblem on the face of the lense that I will have to remove (sand off & re-polish). Should not be to difficult to do. Ford parts on a Chevy who would guessed!
Thought this might help someone else.

Mine uses only 2 T906 bulbs. I purchased another light that uses 5 bulbs but there were none included. It has the bar to put the bulbs into, just no blubs. If anyone needs this type light 3rd brake light let me know!Originally Posted by Mirror Image

Mirror Image, I'm not sure if the Town Car housing will fit the Firebird. Someone with a 'bird might be able to look @ the pictures posted & give you that answer.

It would probably depend on year, I know it looks different than my 1989, but from the pix I have seen it looks really similar to the 1986-mid 1988 type rear brake lens on the firebird vert.

Very strange but today I looked at several 85-89 lincoln town cars at the junkyard and none had a third brake light that looked like that

Is there a particular trim model town car that this brake light came in? I was at a yard today, and none of the cars had this style housing..

Still Searching... Anyone have updated info on this?
Vertigo107, all the info I have about the vehicle model is what was on the sticker from the wrecking yard. I started my search with the part number on the back of the old one. If you have the original brake light, use that number & do a google search & see what comes up. If you don't have the light, let me know & I'll get you the number off my old one.

Jnman,
I hadn't tried that, but I did, and found one after changing my search words. THANKS AGAIN!

Glad I could help you out. Don't forget, when you get it, to remove the `FORD' from the face of lense, LOL!
Originally when the car was developed the light was designed off a Country Squire Station Wagon. So putting a ford light on it is not out of character.

Yeah, I actually looked at my original today under a light, and I can see the Ford emblem where is wasn't completely sanded off. The new one is from an 86 Crown Victoria, and is in fair shape. I wish I could take the entire ting apart and really get it clean, that would be awesome!
