pictures of convertible production?
Hey guys, I've seen a bunch of pictures of third gens getting built in their normal Van Nuys and Norwood factories, but did anybody snap any pictures of our cars getting chopped up by ASC? The closest I got was this article right here.

I should have taken some but never did. The ASC plant was on Gale Ave in the City of Industry just a couple of miles East of me. I'd see cars in their parking lot with a cardboard piece with a small rectangle for a rear window in place of the rear hatch glass. The building still exists, but they've built another building on what had been the parking lot for storing the cars prior to conversion.

Would be interesting to see some inside pictures.
David M took several pictures of the Norwood and Van Nuys assembly plants. He snapped this picture which shows a transporter that apparently was destined for ASC. They have the rear hatch covers as Lon referred to above:

Oooh I've seen that picture somewhere before... pretty neat! I envy the guy that has that Jamaica Yellow bird... assuming it still exists.

The guy from ASC said they didn't take pics of camaro or firebird conversions but did take GN GNX ones because GM/Buick wanted them. He also said back then someone would have had to have a camera, not like today with a cell phone. It was also just a job to them.

Re: pictures of convertible production?
so is there any way to find out which ASC location "chopped" the car? I would have thought that with the location of Industry City being so close to the Van Nuys plant they all would go there. Did the Norwood cars go to the MI location?

Re: pictures of convertible production?
I think they went to both, it probably was determined on where the final destination was. If it was an eastern car delivery then they may have sent them to Livonia. However the aftermarket conversions I think were all done at Livonia.
They may have done them at both places to spread the workload out too..
Just a guess.

I wonder if there is anyway to find out. I looked at my ASC tag on the door and it has a date of July 1991. There is a small number code in the upper right corner. Could that be a code for where it was done? My car was built @ the Van Nuys plant and was sold to a dealer here in Fl.
