These top frames are harder to get than i imagined...ive checked every junkyard in the area, i watch ebay and craigslist like i have OCD, and i check on here all the time (i saw 1 but he never got back to me...) is there an aftermarket one available?

 

Posting here is always good. I've got a 91 model frame available. No flip rods and a bad top.

Is it compatible on an 89 camaro? How much shipped to Massachusetts?

 

I have a frame with good (new) top from an 87 not positive if there is any difference in the top frame I think the difference on them was the top itself. shipping won't be cheap (more than likely truck freight) I have pics if needed. what exactly is wrong with yours I have an extra set of the side pivot pillars also. If those are the problem I would sell those too be way cheaper depending on your problem.

 

i need the center support( the one that attaches to the front of the frame) but would take the whole thing...if you could pm me a price, we'll see if we can make a deal.

sometimes it cheaper to get a whole parts car. Thats what I did, found a 92 firebird vert for $450. didn't really need another top frame but figured it might get harder to find these parts later. BTW the plus was got all the other exterior parts too

 

@Texas - That couldn't more true. Salvage a local junkyard (with-in 20 miles radius) and snag a whole car. Once your done you can scrap it or simply give it back to the junk yard.

What a steal though - 450 smackers.....pheww

 

Convertibles are damn near impossible to find up here in new England- in the past two years I've only seen one in person besides mine, so parts are really hard to get.

 

What I like to do is use the Opera Mail Client. What you do is simply setup a "keyword" filtered search and subscribe VIA RSS. You can take this idea and apply it to Craigslist. It'll take some time to setup the RSS Feeds but once you target all major cities within your 200 sq. mile radius your bound to get someone who has what you need.

For example:
(search terms)

1 - Convertible
2 - Firebird
3 - Camaro

Three keyword optimized search terms that filter out what people post in their title.

I'm working on a tutorial to break it down - hopefully I can get it up on the website soon.

 

Ive seen about 5 or so third gen junkyard verts in almost 7 years of junkyarding.Three of them were stripped and only had odds and ends left.The other two were fairly complete and I was able to gather quite a few spare parts.They dont show up very often in the yards.I just recently missed out on an 87 Iroc vert on craigslist for 1000 dollars.

mines an 89, so its different, but denny at TGR did find me a frame and top....
