GTA Door Panel Pics in a 'vert?
I have a '92 Camaro Convertible. I'm working on swapping my tan interior with black, and I'm trying to decide if I like the regular (flat) third-gen door panels better, or the GTA ones...
I've only been able to find one picture of a GTA panel in a Camaro that shows any part of the Camaro interior. I would like to see more pictures of how they look with the Camaro interior. Specifically I would like to see how they look next to the rear panels in the vert.
I know they made GTA 'verts, IDK if the rear panels were the same in those as Camaros.
Any pictures of installed GTA door panels that show other parts of the interior as well will be greatly appreciated!!
Oh, and did any of the GTA panels have power mirror controls mounted in the drivers door?

My 87 GTA window & mirror controls are in the center console. AFAIK, that was the way all GTAs are.

Interesting. Looks like a manual mirror hole, but GTAs didn't have manual mirrors.
Here is my spare 89 GTA panel, no extra hole.

Thats for the non-power "remote" mirror with the little joystick in the door. Had that on my '87 formula. Same door panel except grey. I swapped the deluxe door panels into my '91, but it's a bird so I doubt it helps.
Curious, why do you call them GTA door panels? Same reason the crosslace wheels get called GTA wheels?

Ok, I know what you're talking about. So what to Camaro owners do who install these panels, or has no one done this with a power mirror equipped Camaro? I would think I could just cut a hole in the panel in the right spot, but I don't know what I'd to for a bezel around the switch...
I've been calling them GTA panels because that's what I've seen them referred to as. Also seen them referred to as deluxe panels as you called them or molded panels, but it seems more commonly they are referred to as GTA panels. Don't know much about history in terms of what was offered with different models, especially Pontiac third-gen history. I wasn't born till 90, so most of production was before I was even born!

Re: GTA Door Panel Pics in a 'vert?
I imagine the most aesthetically pleasing solution would be to mount the mirror control in the center console like birds too. Just behind the window switch where the old clock used to be? It may be simpler to do that and just dissect the harness out of the door and pull it over than to try and create a whole bezel and mounting structure.
No worries on the nomenclature. Just a pet peeve of mine because both my thirdgens have had options that were referred to as GTA stuff and neither have been GTAs.

Eh, I like the mirror control where it is, makes more sense there IMO, and I have plans for the center console spot (either cup holder, or joystick to control carputer). I would think I could just cut the hole in the door panel and it would mount fine, it would just be the bezel around it that would be a problem. Maybe I could use the bezel that would be around it if it were mounted in the center console?
What is the "official" name of these panels? Pontiac deluxe door panels? Perhaps a mod could add that to the thread title, may help me get more responses!
Thanks for the info so far, hope someone can post some pics!

Re: GTA Door Panel Pics in a 'vert?
When I rebuilt the deluxe door panels in my car I used a significant amount of gorilla glue where the fiberboard had deteriorated or broken. I'd imagine cutting a hole the size of the bezel used in the center console and gluing it into the fiberboard would make it fairly easy to mount?
I don't know that there is an 'official' name for the door panels but they were part of the "Deluxe Interior Package" so I've always referred to them as Deluxe door panels because my '87 formula came with them. I liked 'em so much I swapped them into my '91. They flow SO much better with the dash. Good luck!

Is the '91 you're referring to the vert in your sig pic? If so, do you have any pics of the panels? I looked at your cardomain page but in all the pics there your doors are "naked" :O

I believe there is an extra bracket on the doors, for the Deluxe Panel arm rests to mount to. Without the extra bracket, the Deluxe Panel arm rests wouldn't mount, because of the sideways vs vertical mounting screws for the arm rests.

Yes, I have read about the arm rest mounting brackets...from what I've read they are riveted to the car so I would just have to drill them out from the donor car and rivet/screw them in place of my brackets. Is that correct? Are the brackets I have now riveted on as well?

Yes. Very easy to drill out your rivets and pop in new ones with the new bracket. The flat door panel armrests have angled attachment bolts while the deluxe style use a horizontal bolt.
A couple shots I just took.

Awesome, that first picture is pretty much exactly what I wanted to see. I think I'll definitely pick up a set of black ones if I see them for sale again. I still need to find black rear panels but I don't think I ever will...probably will have to take those to an upholsterer.

Thanks, looks like I'll definitely be doing this! Anyone know if the handle/switch bezel was available in black?

All are black, even the tan panels.

And the door lock sliders are black too.

Normally come with tan arm rests

But I swapped my tan ones out for some black ones. And the inside handle is black too.

Hm, could have sworn I've seen some with gray bezels..that's good though.
I picked up black armrests at a junk yard right after I got the car, so my car looks similar atm.
