Help with boot release

I hope someone can help me with this. Today I put my top down. The latch release for the "boot cover" released fine and I lifted it to put the top down. I then closed it with no problems. Tonight when I used the center console release button to put the top back up, only the passenger side will release. I can hear the driver side clicking but it doesn't release. Please help me with any advice you can. Thanks.

Re: Help with boot release

Sounds like there might be some extra upward tension on the left side latch. If it's clicking but not fulling releasing, maybe try have a friend press the switch while pushing down slightly on the tonneau cover at the same time (or try it yourself if you have really long arms). If it releases, then lift slightly to see if it comes up.

If you're still having trouble and really need to get that thing released, there is a manual cable with a small loop in the end located close to the driver's side latch. It's there in case the electronic option fails.

Any other possible ideas? Maybe the solenoid is worn out?

Re: Help with boot release

Thanks a lot for the help. I can't find the manual release as the reason I am worried. I am still trying to get it to release.

Re: Help with boot release

You should have a cable like this. It's pictured on the bottom right . . .

Actually there might be one of these cables on each side. You can reach it behind the back seat when the tonneau is down.

Here's the link for the rest of the topic and pics . . .

Hope this helps.

Re: Help with boot release

I was able to play with it and get it to open. I fished with my hand and found the manual release. All is well now, thanks for the help.
