I've seen those those as a conversion, but never straight from GM.

That's the "Hmmmmm" part. Chevy never offered an "official" convertible of any kind until the much later ASC conversions.

Ahhhhhhh.... ummmmmm... NO!.
Autoform converted the car, I believe Autoform may have only done dealer conversions. Much like the ASC conversion i suspect Dealers had the cars dropped shipped to Indiana, and they shipped the car to the dealer. I do not think that they did cars after they were sold (much like from what I understand about the ASC conversion.)

Exactly. I posted this topic because it's surprising how many are not aware this. Conversions done independently or through a dealer are quit different than an actual option offered by the vehicle manufacturer. Those kind of conversions also impact value (usually negatively compared to "official" verts) and also servicing typically much more difficult (pre-"official" ASC's possibly the exception).

Re: Factory 2 Seater - Hmmmmm
I would think that the Autoform is a well enough known conversion that it does not hurt the value, rather it does help it. From what I have seen, typically any quality convertible conversion seems to be worth at least the same as if not more than a similar hard top. If it was my decision, I would stick with the better known ones, as parts are a pain to find one the factory models, let alone some aftermarket conversion. For all intents and purposes, in my head, the closest you could get to a Factory conversion without it being "officially" offered with a RPO would be the ASC.
Autoforms are nice cars, the concept of making them into a roadster really makes it a hard sell for me, just because I need to put my kids somewhere...
This is MY opinion, but here is where I would place the convertibles as far as what I would look for
1) Factory ASC
2) Dealer ASC conversion
3) Autoform
4) Matrix3
5) Hi-point
6) Greenwood
7) Others
Once you get below a really low production, its just too hard to find pieces and parts, you end up making your own replacement parts and it ends up being more hassle than its worth IMHO.
