Why not flip it up, align it so you can use it, then at night, flip it down when the head lights bother you????

also, is the set screw tight? They sometimes work themselves loose at the windshield over time.

Re: different rear view mirror?

I like the Mirrors from the 1989-1993 Riviera.

They automatically dim when there is traffic behind you, I am sure other cars used them, and I know that for those cars around 1987 with the automatic dimming mirror that would flip on its own, they used the monochromatic LC dimming mirror as a replacement.

There are three wires, The Red goes to power, Black to Ground and The green wire goes to the backup lights to turn off the mirror when in reverse.

The nice thing is that the mirror looks stock, as it is about the same size dimensionally as the originals, most people do not even notice that its been changed.

Re: different rear view mirror?

I wish I could find a good auto-dimming mirror that also has dome lights built in. Seems like most of the newer GM ones that are auto-dimming don't have lights in them. Without the lights, you don't have ANY lighting in a convertible.

Like it was mentioned already though, just set it to where you want it in the daytime, then at night flip the switch for the dimmer and it will keep you from being blinded but will still be set where you want it.

I've noticed that too..... and you definitely want the interior lights!

Re: different rear view mirror?

Mine is auto dimming, with map lights, compass, temperature, and homelink buttons. It cost me $190, but it was WELL worth it. If anyone is interested I will PM the name of the guy on ebay I bought it from...hes a really cool guy, and was able to change the color of the compass and temp for me at no extra cost...

Re: different rear view mirror?

My stock GTA mirror auto dims, or used to. I think the sensor went out because it stopped auto-dimming.
