Another convertible spoiler question??
I have a 91 RS Convertible 5.0L V-8I picked up cheap. It has issues, but was too cheap to pass up. Of course I have more projects then I now what to do with, but always wanted a convertible. Loved the 3rd gens...
The center section of the spoiler is kind of damaged. Mounting studs broken etc. The molded sides are fine and intact. I know the vert spoiler is different on the sides. Is th center section the same as any of the other 3rd gen spoilers, or is the whole thing different?

Its vert specific. Ive fixed a few with broke studs. 3m panel bond and new stainless studs. Its not hard to do if you can with with epoxies.

I did the same, I took solid plastic dowels and cut them to size and panel-bonded them in, when dry drilled them out and added the new studs.

Re: Another convertible spoiler question??
I took my factory plastic pedatsals and a grinder and ground a lot of slits all around the plastic so the epoxy would have something to grab. I then took 2" PVC water pipe and ground it to fit around the plastic pedastal with the correct angle to help it seat on the trunk lid for extra support. I have pulled very hard trying to get it to turn loose and it stays solidly attatched.

Thanks for all the replies. I assume that was the case. I will have to work on repairing mine. I was just hoping maybe GM was smart and used possibly the center section from an earlier 3rt gen model. Had seen a few in local junk yard.

Re: Another convertible spoiler question??
the Verts were not built by GM, ASC built most of them, so they were the ones that should have made extras for the parts department, but as with any 3rd party it is all about money. I believe some of the third brake lights are actually ford units - LOL dang ford anyway.
