ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
Gents,
Seems the ASC reference file called conv_top.pdf link is missing everywhere I have looked. I have rehosted it on my website, which hopefully will stay put for a long while.
http://www.gmassie.net/l98gta/conv_top.pdf
This is a 45 page ASC drawing that someone scanned into a pdf. It is titled 1991.5 "F" Body Convertible and is ASC number A-27X0-4960-AXXX.
Perhaps someone can move this post to the correct sticky thread which I believe is:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/conv...placement.html
If it can be hosted somewhere here on thirdgen.org please let me know. I should probably rename the file something more appropriate. Comments would be appreciated.

Lota of good stuff! I was hoping to find a diagram showing where the wiring is routed for the tonneu release switch but no such luck.

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
You are all welcome, but want to clarify the document has been hosted elsewhere here on the forum but the links in the sticky were/are broken. Just such a handy document that it needs a permanent home or link that stays active. My link is a copy of that same document, likely the exact same pdf file... I got it from somewhere...
As for the wire routing of the release it may help to remember these were converted hardtops and done after they left the factory. So.... any release wiring info published would 'mostly' be in the OE/Pontiac book for the hardtop/t-top, its just labeled 'hatch release'. My 89 GTA has the original hatch release wired to release the tonneau cover, but not sure some other year convertibles don't pop the trunk?? Enlighten me.
It would be nice to have all the ASC docs in ONE spot. IMHO. Maybe I will work on links to my website, but I would prefer they live here on this forum. I'm not certain this forum will actually store them though...
Hope any of this helps. If not, let me know. I have traced the wires where they pass by the drivers side floor board and up through/by the inside of the speaker cover. You can pretty much SEE these wires at that point by peering down inside by the swing hinge. Depending on what your goal anyway. Post your situation, maybe we can dig out an answer?

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
good files. I have that 45page pdf on my laptop also.
one of these days Im gonna strip all the wiring diagrams out of alldata and put them in one searchable pdf file. Just have to find the time.

Post some detail on what's causing you to look where the wires are routed.

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
AHDOL used to sell a single pdf file with all the drawings for $12-15 if I remember correctly. I have them for an '89 Firebird and a few others, probably not supposed to 'share' them though... :-(
Always about the dollar and making more.

Gerry,
Thanks for the drawings... I would think there would be similar ones for each year... That would be a neat thing to find.

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
The reason I am trying to figure out how the tonnue release wiring is routed is because i am putting together a 92 vert that at some point had a hardtop/ttop dash and interior wiring swapped in (had rear defrost switch and the lead for the window strip), and I wamt to run the wiring where its supposed to go.
My blue car is a 91 and the switch is in the center console so thats no help

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
If these drawing packages are like others in the industry one would be led to the conclusion they were done each year. Has any of your research ever lead you to that? Who is the grand collector of all things ASC? I believe I originally come across this particular set right here on thirdgen.org. Things like this are becoming more important I believe.
Now that I have 'retired again'... I am trying to find the time to start contributing more and digging some more. Got that bug bad on my '96 Impala, think its a worse case on the GTA though.

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
On my 92 Z-28, the Tonnue Release switch is on the Driver Side Rear right next to the Rear Bow Release. The only switches on the center console are for the Power Windows. The 87 Vert has no power, so I am not sure it the switch on the console releases the tonnue or the trunk

Guess this would be an interesting thing to drill down on.
87 ?
88 ?
89 GTA = in dash above radio
90 ?
91 Z28 = center console
92 Z28 = up by top release

Re: ASC drawing conv_top.pdf
Here is the best I can figure... It all makes sense if you follow it.
87-91 used the switch location for the rear hatch release on the coupes
92 moved the switch to the rear tonneau.
The 86-89 non RPO Verts had the rear hatch release button
Some of the early Factory Cars, possibly 1987 only had the hatch release button
All later cars had the tonneau button instead of the Hatch button, only difference was the silkscreen logo on it.
Keep in mind that the camaro had the release button on the center console, and the firebirds had it on the dash.
