I just purchased my first 3rd gen convertible. Below is some info about it and I would like your feedback regarding rarity. It needs some replacement interior parts and the back window is white.

Where did you buy it? Had you been looking long?

 

I found it on Craigslist. It was located outside of Scranton PA about 10 miles or so from my house and I never saw it before. It's been in PA from 1996 at a min. I wasn't even really looking for a convertible. I have been looking for a T-Top car with a good body for a 85 IROC drive train transplant. Now the IROC will be parted out since I don't need an engine anymore.

 

Awesome CL find. That's where I found my vert... Mine was probably 10x cheaper though... cause yours looks nice!

It has 46300 miles and it was a good deal I think....4K

It's not fully detailed and it needs some interior replacement parts before a photo shoot.

Welcome to the Vert club.... and as i also own a Purple Haze , welcome to the Purple Haze Vert Club. you got a fantastic deal on that. i bought mine about a year ago from a Ford dealership in Orlando. it had 100892 miles on it and with the except of the rims/tires and aftermarket alarm is all original. still has the factory CD player ad speakers. any way i paid around $5500 for mine, and it needs some interior and paint work, but over all it's pretty clean.

Found an original nos set of rear floor mats in TN.....now the interior is complete.

 

New parts purchased for it so far:
NOS rear floor mats
NOS window switches
NOS turn signal lever with yellow print
NOS center caps
NOS Cigarette lighter
NOS passenger side lock button
New grill to be painted purple

Pics will be taken in the spring when I get the few pieces painted and hopefully get my driver seat repaired. The Z03 needs a cosmetic restoration but runs great.

 

Got one trunk panel to repair the damage from a hacked sub install by the previous owner.

 

You should post a couple pics of your progress man! Love to see more about this car. Did you get your air bag? I sold one of them on ebay and it went to PA... thought of you.

Great deal, super nice looking ride for the $$$!

 

No progress other than gathering parts since the car is in storage with my Z03 and boat until the spring. I will be doing my work at that time. I did get one air bag and should have another after the new year. I am hoping to get the leather so my seat can get done this winter then the interior will be perfect.

 

Picked up some upgrades for the vert.

LS1 front brakes and a 4th gen 3.42 posi LS1 disc brake rear.
Some cans of R12 to get the AC working again.
Original leather to make the driver seat nearly perfect.

I am planning on a Magnaflow exhaust system to be installed when I switch the rears. Luckly I found a local powder coater with really reasonable prices so I am going to have everything done for that clean durable look.

Next big decision is rims. I originally wanted to go with chrome ZR1's and now I am thinking about some chrome C6's. I plan on staying with the same size on all four corners.

Thought's on rims?

I vote for the C6s. They're my favorite 'vette wheels.

 

Sounds like some great plans. I'll be interested if you PC the exhaust system. Should look great.

Chrome Zr-1's sound perfect to me on there, but there is a downfall.... Purple car with shiny chrome rims... Your gonna have to drive with the top up in any sort of populated areas... GIRLS will be jumping into your car!!!! I know what kind of trouble that would be for me, so just be prepared lol

There is a car show Sunday April 21 @ Wilkes University. They usually have a pretty good turn out there the past few years. 26th car cruise on public square Wilkes-Barre. This is held the last Friday of every month and if the weather is good it gets packed. Refer to www.holeshotscarclub.com for a complete listing of events as we are made aware of them throughout the summer. Also HoleShots car club on Facebook. I'll keep an eye out for your car.

 

Here are some pics of the hacked up trunk panels due to the custom sub box and amps in the trunk. Owner told me the installer at Circuit City said that it could be easily be remove to restore back. I needed a 5lb sledge hammer to get the box out and this is what I found. Needless to say the trunk now is back to the way it should look IMO.

 

Did you replace the panels? I see good interior cover parts come up on eBay from time to time. Very nice 'vert you have there, the Purple Haze color is very cool.

 

Yes panels have been replaced along other little items.

 

Rare car in a rare color. And you got it while its still in good condition. A car for the rest of your life. Congratulations, I think there were 1254 made in 92 and who knows how many purple cars since they made them the last half of the year.

 

Did some repairs to the climate control, AC and console.

Fixed the climate control so that now all the options work without a vac leak. Recharged the AC with some R12 I picked up. Replaced the console lid bottom/inner plastic so now there is complete trim around the button along with repairing/rebuilding/cleaning the shift plate.

Working and looking like she should.

 

Purchased a Magnaflow exhaust last fall and some cooper tires last month. Time to get her out of storage....make her sound nice and actually grip the road.
