Trunk Lid Gap
I dont know if this is because this is a convertible, this car also does have a salvage title and i do not know what was done to it
Is there supposed to be that 1 inch gap between the trunk lid and the tail lights?

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Agreed looks like they were trying to get the spoiler to line up and as a result the trunk lid no longer does. Not exactly sure how the spoiler goes on, but it would see to me you should be able to adjust the trunk lid to line up and then shim the spoiler upward to line up with the spoiler lines.

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Looks to me like it has the wrong spoiler on it. It doesn't seem to be the same height as the side wings. Maybe one off of an earlier model. Then the trunk lid can be adjusted down where it belongs.

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Thx for all the responses, If i knock the bolts off the bottom of the trunk lid to allow it to go lower then the pieces of trim on the side wont line up

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Wild Weasel may be on to something. That spoiler probably came off a non convertible car. The center piece is vert specific and the previous owner may not have been able to find one and made due with a hardtop/t-top version.

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
So i ended up dropping the trunk lid, it looks more even but now i have a problem up top, keep in mind my motor does not work atm either, i dont know how low or high it keeps the trunk lid, working on fixing that aswell
Look at how uneven the side trim is with the trunk now

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
It looks like you have a standard camaro spoiler and not the correct one for a vert.
Maybe I'm wrong

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Even if i get the correct spoiler, its uneven for about a foot, think the new spoiler and fixed pull down motor will fix all that?

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
And the size difference may not just restricted to vert or not. I think the ones with a 3rd brake light in them are taller than the earlier ones.
Or it could be that the outer 2 pieces from a taller spoiler were put on.
Adjust the latch assembly down to get the hatch to sit right, then get the spoiler pieces to match. Taller inner or shorter outers.

The draw-down motor system does not have to work to get things to line up. You just need the right parts. A salvage title scares me and developes all kinds of nightmares about "What did they do to get rid of it'

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
Isn't there supposed to be a rubber spacer under the spoiler?

Re: Trunk Lid Gap
There are rubber seals on the bolts that hold the spoiler on. They are real thin and are designed to keep water out of the trunk. There is also a gasket along the leading edge between the trunk lid and the spoiler, also designed to keep water to a minimum.
