New Convertible Owner

A few weeks ago I picked up a 1990 RS Convertible. I'm new to Camaros so its going to be fun learning. The PO put in a T5 and now I have it in my gargage with the interior out, getting some metal fabbed up to take care of some rot on the rear floors. I hope to have her back together by spring, ready for some top down weather.

Re: New Convertible Owner

The 90-92 speed density cars will only go up in value so the work you are doing is money in the bank. 90 was a short year and had the new dash, speed density instead of mass air flow with the old ground affects. I think less than 1000 were made or close so it is one of the rarer cars for sure. I looked for 15 years for a 90-92 triple black vert before I found mine in 07. Post pics.

verts are awsome. you'll love it and have fun. i too waited forever for my vert. been chasing it for 12 years before i finally got my hands on one. i wanted a triple black with a manual trans, and i ended up with a purple with grey interior Auto. the color has grown on me and i'm glad i got it, but i still have manual transmission withdrawal and will swap it to a T56 eventually.

This thing was an impulse buy. The only reason i bought it was cuz its a 5spd. I was def having manual withdrawal.

Re: New Convertible Owner

Well at 729 cars made you of course know what you have so spend all of your time thinking about it and what you want to do to it and what you can sell to pay for it and imagine it when it is done just like the rest of us do. I am going to build the one of 602 prototype cars that gm was going to build (for the 92 25th ann). I have the new motor except for the cam and heads but I do have a stealth ram (no tpi this time). I already have installed a 89 9 bolt posi with the 11.7 rear PBR disc brakes. You know the engineers dropped the ball when your rear brakes (factory) are 11.7 with aluminum calipers and your front brakes are 10.5 with an old iron caliper. And we all know that 70% of your stopping power is in the front. And these guys have monster educations with lots of letters after there name.
