Have had this car for about 13 years now and couldn't part with it so I tore it down for a freshening up to only find rust all over. After replacing the battery tray, patching the ds floor pan, passenger pan, ps quarter panel, and undercoating the floor pans and undercarriage of the car, now its time to replace the ds rear quarter.

After determining that the rear spoiler was flimsy and just screwed to the car using self taping screws, I decided to recreate it using some sheet metal and weld it to the car. the goal is to make it seamless when I am done. While I was at it decided to remake the door sills out of aluminum .

Quarter panel on. needs some adjustments but overall not bad.

 

hats off on the rear quarter man.. it a real job having to roll the top edge over.. I don't think its possible to do it without having to put some thin ice on it even though the spoiler peace covers it mostly... I used a nos panel though.... almost cried when I took the nibbler to the b piller....

btw how did u line up the rivet holes in the door jamb to the brace for the top frame?

 

Honestly things aren't exactly lined up so I have to cut my tack welds and reposition. there is a piece of sheet metal on the inside of the panel that I missed,that needs to be removed . It's pushing the panel about an 1" or so out of alignment. It will have to wait until spring

 

Getting back into the project and have the quarter panel on and welded up. Everything is lining up nicely, just have to replace the door bushings and pins and then make some slight adjustments to get the door gap right.
