89 vert question
What's up guys. New to the camaro game. Had a couple of Nova's (68 and 72) but recently bought an 89 Iroc vert. Never owned a vert before and wondering if anyone could help me out. The rear part of the top that locks down into the truck doesn't seem to fit well. There's about a 2 1/2 in gap between the top and the truck that spans the length of the top and I can't figure out if it needs to be adjusted or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 89 vert question
Some people having luck with hot water on a towel, other use a hair dryer. Whatever the case damage to the top is a possibility. Google stretching a top and you will see what people have tried.

Re: 89 vert question
Put the rear pin in 1st (optional, let car run with heat on high) then latch the windshield side.

Re: 89 vert question
Thanks for the ideas guys. I also saw something online about steaming. If there are any other helpful ideas, please let me know. Lastly, should the rear pin from where the top locks into the truck look like that (as far as the gap goes)? The distance from where it locks in the hole is the distance I am missing from the top.

Re: 89 vert question
Hey board brothers (and sisters), upon closer investigations it looks as if the vert I bought may be missing some weather stripping. Can anyone post a pic to show what that rear weather stripping looks like? And maybe where I can get it from? Much appreciated.

Re: 89 vert question
The convertible seals are available, hawksthirdgenparts.com is where I would start, Summit Racing has it, classic industries should have it...
The two brands I am aware of are SoffSeal & Metro
I have yet to put my weatherstrip on, but it was cheap when I got it a few years ago but I see it is now about twice the price.
