My new vert
Hello everyone
My search is over. I now own a 91 Trans Am convertible
Red with tan interior and tan top
Needs a little work...... but it's a trans am....!
Need new top.....
Has some rust in trunk and wheel wells
One headlight motor not working
Can anyone give me info on what's involved in changing out the top....??
Thank you

Re: My new vert
In addition to the minor repairs I plan on
Installing power seat (also plan on swapping in GTA seats)....complete digital dash.....steering wheel controls....
My doner car is a digital dash 88 GTA .....{was TPI but PO removed it and put a carb on}
I'm in the process of stripping it now...dash...entire harness...steering column.....a/c harness......
My question is about the a/c controls and a/c box....?
Do I have to replace entire box or just harness and vac lines....?
Thank you

Just curious on why you are wanting the digital dash so badly?

I like digital gauges.......
Favorite TV show was Knight Rider...
KITT..... computerized digital dash.....
I've built two KITT Trans Ams.....
So now I'm looking for a Pontiac version of KITT
GTA digital dash fits the bill but I also want it in my vert....
Need a cluster ( that works )
TPI engine harness from a digital dash car ( 1988 )
Or can I use 1991 engine harness with the digital dash

Re: My new vert
Does the digital dash function 100%? Reason I ask is the entire wiring harness is different and has different sensors front to back from the analog gauge cars. Honestly I would think long and hard about that decision before you start pulling that vert apart to do that conversion.

Re: My new vert
The Digital Dash conversion may be more than you anticipate. There are sensors on the doors, on the hatch and the sending units for the sensors might be different. I was going to swap a Digital Dash in my 83 Riviera (yes it was an option) until I looked into it, the job was almost impossible without a ton of work.
Cool idea, but keep in mind it is not a weekend swap. If you do it, replace all of the wire looms and check all of your wires while you are going through it.
