ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
I've been wondering the same thing. Assume you're talking about the buckle specifically. My 1992 T/A convert used the original style buckle. I know this is a 1987 but not sure why this would have been any different. It looks like the buckle style that Ford used during that period. Perhaps @okfoz has input?

Re: Rare 87 GTA Convertible w/ side spears:
The buckle does not appear to be original... Not sure what they are out of, ASC did change the belts for the front seats because of the position, instead of being mounted overhead they were mounted the Body behind the door. So they had to change the springs and such...
IDK maybe it was an early ASC design, but the VIN is not that low...
Well it does have the "all original" Pioneer head unit....God I really tire of these breathless inaccurate descriptions that the flippers put out there....I think I need a Snickers to fix my mood.
Web searching pictures of 1987, 1988 and 1989 Firebird and Camaro convertibles:
Interiors show standard 3rdgen-style front seat belts, not the belts on the car in this thread.
The narrower 3rd brake light looks correct on 87 and 88 Firebirds, then wider in 89. Narrower also looks correct on 87 Camaros, wider in 88. So a narrow 1st design, formally standardized to a wider 2nd design for 1989?
The "door spears" look correct on 87 Firebirds and Camaros, then found only on some, but not most, 88 Firebirds and Camaros. So again, a 1st design with spears phased out in early 1988, formally standardized to no spears for 1989?
My '91 came standard with the "door spears". I thought they all came that way in '91 and '92. And I agree with Okfoz, remove the front license plate bracket.

BigandBadGTA - Not sure we are talking about the same "spears". I am talking about the body side, bump moldings (3 pieces each side -front fender, door, and rear quarter) between the wheels as I have highlighted on the attached pic of my car.

Re: Rare 87 GTA Convertible w/ side spears:
The spears we are talking about are on the top of the door for the Convertibles... For 86 and 87, possibly early early 88 there was an extension on the Convertibles that went on the doors...
