ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
I need to remove all of the ground effects on my 92 Z28 convertible. Everything except the lower rocker one seems straight forward. Everything I've seen says there's a stud and nut in the rear quarter. If there is one on the convertible there's no way to access it. Because my car has reinforcements inside the quarter. If you've removed the lower rocker ground effects on a convertible. How did you get the back of it off?
Not sure if this was done the same way on a car as late as 92, but on my 86 this bolt was relocated a couple of inches to just inside the wheel well instead of inside the quarter panel. Hope that helps.
Attached is a pic of the inside of the bracket on mine, showing how it was moved closed to the back edge.
Thanks for the picture Ken. I checked mine and it isn't attached in the rear wheel well. As of now I'm thinking my only option is to cut a peep hole in the middle of the reinforce to see if there's a nut holding it on.
Oh okay - that sucks..
However, you should be able to at least verify that the nut is there by removing the vent in the door jamb. I stuck my phone in there to take a pic, an actually got my arm in there far enough to pick up a piece of tubing that had fallen off at some point.
So, it is probably tricky, but it should be possible to get to it and losen it from the vent.
yes you can get to it through the vent opening. I removed the drain tube and since i have big arms I gave my wife my 1/4" ratchet and had her remove the speed nut.
