Question bout Temp Gauge

Got a question,
First let me explain about my engine. It is a carburated 350. All mechanical not one aspect is computer controlled. I need to intall a new temp gauge and was wondering where does the actual temperature part of the gauge go? Where does the sensor bolt into? Does it go into the block somewhere? I was thinking that I could put it in the hole where u drain the radiator from.
Tell me what ya think.
Thanks
Barrett

The temp gauge sending unit goes in the hole in the front of the driver side head. You probably have a pipe plug in there now.

Or it could go into your manifold next to the "neck". At least that's where mine is.
